Pros

Backup Battery Power

Safe Streets USA also provides users with a backup battery to power the security system if the power goes out. And with Safe Street USA’s professional installation, customers won’t need to worry about where to place sensors or cameras; alarm company technicians will find the best strategic locations possible for a security camera and your other equipment. For added peace of mind, Safe Streets offers a six-month money-back guarantee on every professional installation.

Average Contract Length

All security and automation packages from Safe Streets USA come with a 36-month contract. A 36-month contract is typical in the home security industry. Some companies offer month-to-month contracts if you purchase all your equipment up front. Other companies require a 60-month contract when you don’t pay anything upfront. Make sure to read through Safe Street’s contract before signing up.

Cons

High Costs

All Safe Streets USA packages require professional installation. Depending on which package you select, installation costs anywhere from $99-$199.

The cheapest monitoring package that Safe Streets offers is $36.99/month. A basic home security package from other companies is a lot less expensive. Even for the company’s most expensive package ($62.99/month), a lot of the equipment that you would want in a home automation system isn’t included and has to be purchased separately. Overall, Safe Streets is more expensive than our top-rated home security companies. Additionally, customers can only monitor their home with the ADT Pulse Voice App if they purchase a system that is over $50 monthly.

Cancellation Policy

Furthermore, if customers want to cancel their home security subscription before the contract has expired, they are required to contact customer service and pay an early termination fee (75% of the remaining balance), which can result in thousands of dollars.

ADT has a Mover’s Package Guarantee – if you have used their service for two years and your account is in good standing, you can move your home monitoring package to your new home. However, you must then sign a new 36-month agreement.

Complaints against Safe Streets USA and ADT

Overall, Safe Streets reviews are negative on Best Home Security Companys. The average customer rates them at 3 out of 10. Below is a summary of the Safe Streets USA reviews we have:

  • Many reviewers are upset that they are unable to cancel the 3-year contract they sign with Safe Streets. Some claim that they did not realize what they were signing up for.
  • Customers complain about the outdated, poor quality, and high cost of Safe Street’s equipment.
  • Several customers have had installation issues.
  • Safe Streets sells themselves as ADT when they are a separate company.
  • Poor experiences with customer service.

Our Recommendation

Safe Streets USA is an authorized ADT dealer that requires long-term contracts and professional installation. For more affordable and reliable options, potential customers should look into Protect America and Frontpoint.

Installation was botched from the start. The kid they sent had no idea how to install the system. The “supervisor” came back to fix the issues and only half completed the install. Three years later after the contract ended we called and faxed in a cancellation request and a month later started getting billing calls asking why we are past due. Billing confirmed at that time that our account was still active and there was no record of our cancellation. She put in the information on our account and asked me to follow up in a week. I called back the next week only to find out that no one at Safe Streets had even seen the note and nothing had been changed. My recommendation is don’t do business with this company.

I don’t have an account with Safe Streets USA, however based on today’s experience I know this is not the right company for me. The sales rep, Rita came to my door today and she immediately asked to come in after doing her sale pitch. I asked Rita to give me a second so I could put my dog away, when I came back to the door there was a man with her, When I opened the door they both immediately walked in and just began talking, no introduction, no name exchange and no formal identification. After asking the gentleman’s name which I think was Brian. He told me what services I needed and then he left, He seemed like he was in a rush and Rita seemed new. I received a call from a 3rd person tonight and her over the phone manner was aggressive. The overall experience was not good and the not once did anyone explain that they worked for a retailer and not ADT directly.

I had a few people walking around in my neighborhood with the blue ADT clothing on and ended up talking to them about knocking on everyones doors. For starters, they never tried to come into my home, and stood far away. They told me why they were here and showed me their promotion. I didnt tell them that I had someone from ADT there just a week prior, so I already knew what I needed and how much is was going to cost. To my surprise, for the same exact equipment and services, they helped me save almost every penny i was about to spend. Safestreets where I live are truly professional and I am very happy with my new system. My representative is always helpful when I have questions and I feel so safe now that I live in my home alone. Recommended 110% by me. Just know who you are talking to, call the numbers and make sure they are real and employee is in fact an employee. I found that the people wearing the “GE” shirts were liars and not with ADT at all.

Do not use Safestreets. Any time that you have to call customer service is a complete nightmare. Every time I have had to have someone come out, there was confusion with the date and time. I’m moving for my job and just got off the phone with them. They are being complete jerks about it. I finally got a manager on the phone who treated me worse than the call reps. I tried to explain to her what the rep I originally signed up with told me would happen in a relocation situation. She told me that she doesn’t care unless it’s in writing. There are so many choices for security. Pick one where you have a shot at being treated like a person.

Buyer beware, Safestreets USA charges more than ADT corp, and is absolutely terrible in resolving customer complaints. ADT corp doesn’t tell you that the authorized dealer charges more, nor do they give you a choice. Neither party has a written pricing sheet to review with you in advance, so you know what comes with the package, and what the costs are to upgrade. If you don’t need an item that comes with the package, there is no credit either. The technician arrives at the house, starts unraveling the existing alarm system, and then informs you of the additional equipment required to monitor fire and CO2. I didn’t even know there were three levels of ADT Pulse services, And keep in mind, if you want to cancel, they don’t put your house back the way it was. Then when you call customer service, the line often drops, and they don’t call you back. It took me over 10 phone calls to get my concerns resolved. And that’s after I submitted my cancellation beofre the deadline lapsed. I would hihgly recommend you consider other providers than ADT, or its authorized dealers.

The battery was low on my first monitor from the time it was installed, so they came and replaced it, if I have a question they are always there to help. I don’t have any problems with them. But I think the 3 years contract sucks and I heard if you cancel they will charge you every last penny.

The installation goes in without issues but the price changes and the customer service is non-existent. You can’t get anything done through ADT you have to call Safestreets and then if you want to cancel they switch you to rude people who make up info about needing everything in writing. Claim they need a fax – who has a fax anymore. Finally got them to give me an email address. Good luck trying to cancel.

I agree with all the other ratings, a Big O ! I wish I had done my research prior to this installation. We have a summer property that we assumed would be monitored while vacant. We also had a storage building on the property with all the grounds care equipment to be monitored as well. The installer was on time, very friendly and the installation went well. I thought!! I would set the alarm and leave the property as anyone would. Several months later my son went to the property and unlocked the storage, got what he needed, locked the door back and left. He did not think about turning the alarm off at the house. Found out the monitor did not work at all. I contacted SafeStreet and here is where the fun starts. After multiple contacts and hours talking with them over the phone we verbally agreed to be charged a discounted rate until the cause and repair could be made. Months went by with no service but SafeStreet continued to remove the full amount for monitoring from my checking acct. I contacted the BBB and got no response back from SafeStreet about the non functional service or my over charges. They are rude in every way if you contact them with a problem. In one ear out the other. I finally had to transfer the service to another property working directly with ADT Corp. I thought I was done with SafeStreet and now I get a letter for collection of the contract balance. GOOD LUCK collecting ! Deal with ADT directly and all will go well but ask which company is installing and who will be monitoring the system. In my opinion if it is SafeStreet you should hang up the immediately and look for other options.

Run!!! They tricked me when I moved. Was told I was out of the contract. Three years later I get a phone call from a collection agency wanting over $1300! ADT won’t help you either even though I have two places with ADT. I’m getting rid of them too!

I recently had a system installed. If you are looking for a security system I would look elsewhere. I had a door sensor laying on the floor when I came home on day two after the system being installed. My alarm never went off to my knowledge I called my installer who provided me with a cell phone number. He didn’t answer or return my call. I tried to call the number for the company that I was provided with to no avail. No one answered. Shortly after my 72 hours was up I not only did I get someone to answer the companies phone. The technician also called me, saying that he doesn’t check his messages very often. He told me he couldn’t schedule repairs. The call center told me they would get back to me. They called back and scheduled my technician to come two days later. They said they couldn’t get anyone here earlier in the days because there technician was calling on potential new customers the next couple of days. When the technician called me later and said he would be here at 10 that night. He never showed up. He called back the next day informing me he would be there that day. He was a no show/no call. On Monday, I called back the main number. They told be that it was a new call and someone would be here Wednesday, which at this point would have been over a week without being able to activate my system. I asked for the copy of the contract they referred to. I was told they had emailed it to me. I had never given them an email address. When I asked were they had emailed it to, they couldn’t tell me. I asked for the manager, and got a voice mail. I called back again. Finalay when I get in touch with the manager he assured me someone would be here later that day. He told me to call Adt to get a copy of my contract. I called them. They said they don’t ever get the contracts, only safestreets has them. I called back safestreets and was informed they didn’t have it either. Then Wednesday the technician called to say he was on his way and would be here in three hours. I told him I had plans and couldn’t be here. Asked about the contract, that I still to this day have never seen. He said it was emailed to me. Said he would call the manager. Then he called me back and said the manager was going to call me. The manager still never called . The technician said the manager was going to let me out of phantom invisible contract that I never signed and to this day I have not yet seen when I have have repeatedly asked each person I talked to to have it mailed to me. So they at this point, they have my money, I have equipped that I can not activate, I am supposedly under some contract that I have yet to this day not seen. At best, I received maybe 2 days of service. Needless to say, I am going to get a more reputable company to set up a system. I have located a different company with a good reputation that has better prices. They guarantee service calls within 24 hours. My impression of safestreets is that they are nothing but scammers. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. At all.

The worst experience in service or costumer service. ADT doesn’t own the contract they cant help Safe street cant help they don’t monitor the system. Pointing fingers at each other and the costumer doesn’t matter. This has to be illegal – alarm still doesn’t work with no repair work schedule

Horrible service. Lied about who we actually have service with- Thought it was ADT directly. Have had this service over a year, can’t arm the system- calling in for help is a ping pong ball back and forth between ADT and SafeStreet as to whose problem it is. Faulty door switches- Horrible Horrible Service.
Our monthly bill is $47 a month so the chart above is laughable.
Reported our issues to Better Business Bureau too.

My husband and I have had ADT (formerly Brinks) at our main home for almost 16 years, with very few problems. When we purchased a second home my husband made arrangements with ADT for installation. Sadly, Safestreets preformed a botched installation, and we have had multiple problems with the system. We have had false alarms, (police were called) and have had to replace multiple sensors with wireless sensors , being charges each time. Turns out tha actual audio alarm was not even “hooked up” until the 2nd or 3rd service call. The final “event” was zone 6 kept reading “not ready”on the panel and we spent about an hour with ADT on the phone trying to rectify the problem, they determined the senor was bad (another bad sensor) and safe streets was give 72 hoursto return our call, they only called back about a week later after my husband cancelled the service. Safe streets is demanding over $1000.00 even though they failed to install a functioning system. We have wasted hours of time traveleing to this 2nd house for false alarms, having to bypass zones as faulty equipment was installed, (bypassing zones means you have no sensors in that area, really to protection). We entered the agreement in good faith, believeing ADT could install a functioning system, however after many failed attenpts over a 2.5month period, we have no confidence in ADT-Safestreets, It is shameful they expect to receive over $1000.00 when they have failed miserably to install a functioning security system. We continue to utilize ADT at our main residence\, but will need to find a competetant provoder for our 2nd home. We now have the hassle of dealing with safestreet demanding payment, I am looking to the fair trade comission to investigate these practices. I would also like to find others with similar experiences, report probems to simplydoyourjob.com
