ADT is one of the oldest home security companies in the world, with over one century under its belt. With that much experience, ADT-Monitored Security is bound to know what it’s talking about with securing your home. OR do they really know? While one of the largest home security companies in the nation, many consumers of late have not been expressing fond interest in the company’s services. Hopefully, our quick Good & Bad breakdown will help give you an idea about what to expect with ADT-Monitored Security.

The Good

  • $28.99/Mo Traditional Plan For New Customers

New customers of ADT-Monitored Security can get started for just $28.99 per month with its Traditional package which is slightly lower than a majority of security companies out there. This plan comes with limited features but all plans come with a 6-month money back guarantee. If during this time, you are at all dissatisfied with the service that ADT-Monitored Security provides, they will refund you the installation charge and any monitoring fees you’ve accrued.

ADT-Monitored Security video plan comes with free installation, and a Nest Learning Thermostat which is just one of the perks of paying $49.99 per month for this plan. Not only that, but this plan includes home automation features that let you control door locks, lighting, your thermostat, and your garage, remotely from the ADT-Monitored Security Pulse app.

The Bad

Customers that are new to ADT-Monitored Security service will be able to take advantage of its lowest monitoring plan (Traditional) at $28.99 per month, however, this plan does not come with free installation or the extended limited warranty. You will be required to sign a 36-month contract (24-month if you are a resident of California) which is unfortunate if you become dissatisfied with ADT-Monitored Security service after the 6-month money back guarantee.

Users of our site have had quite a bit to say about ADT-Monitored Security and the service it provides. Several reviews proclaimed problems with ADT-Monitored Security reps not showing up to appointments they scheduled, not to mention the hours that some customers have been put on hold for. Other customers of ADT-Monitored Security have mentioned that they were charged high cancellation fees as well as expensive rates for service visits.

The Bottom Line

ADT-Monitored Security offers great introductory packages to help you get started with securing your home. The Video package is a little more expensive than the Traditional but it comes with free installation, tons of home automation features, and a 6-month money back guarantee. However, if you decide to go with ADT-Monitored Security, you must sign a 36-month contract, and you run the risk of dealing with its poor customer service, high cancellation fees, and costly service visits.

We do not recommend ADT-Monitored Security to be your home security provider. There are many other companies out there that offer better customer service and that are more affordable. Companies like Frontpoint Security, Protect America, and SimpliSafe.

    Bad customer service. Having constant problems with the system and they charge $25. Everytime a representative comes and he hasn’t fixed it. Have had 48 alarms gone off on 11 days. Looking for a better service. Dont buy ADT.

    ADT saved my life, we recently had the system installed for piece of mind and a week later someone forced entry in our home and we were able to use the ADT keypad and pressed the blue Shield which sounded the siren and about 14 seconds later ADT called very quickly and we were forced to anwser the phone so when the operator asked if everything was OK, we gave them the “I am not Ok” pasword and they said thank you very much and discreetly sent police. A few days before this, my mom i legally blind and was making something in the oven and thought she turned it off but it was acctually set to BROIL, we were all sleeping and our ADT fire alarm system started going off, our oven was on fire, by the time I made it to my livinroom ADT called and once again saved our life. The equiptment I requested was very specific, I asked for the Safewatch Pro 3000, they came and installed it and the up front cost was around $200.00 and that included my Platinum package monitoring and we pay around $50.00./mo which is tottally worth it for what they offer, Without ADT, That intruder would have caused us major harm and possibly kidnapped the baby and our 15 year old. Thanks ADT! Y’all rock! #ADT-Customer-For-Life!

    These folks are liars. I upgraded my home system to include cameras indoors and outdoors. I told them what my security concerns were prior to purchasing the cameras. What was installed did not address my concrrns which they said it would without a doubt. Now, they said that they cannot do anything else. What was promised was not delivered. They now dont return phone calls. Do NOT go with this compsny. They do nit keep their word. Do NOT trust them. I will switch as soon as I can.

    Had to close our business in July 2016, called and cancelled our ADT Business Security Service. We get a bill for $750.00 June 2017 saying that we owe them. How can any company charge for product or services not rendered? Try that at your place of business and see how far that goes with your customers. It time to hold ADT and Giant companies like them from taking advantage of hard working people. SAY NO to ADT.

    If you have a home ADT is the correct way to go but if you live in an apartment and you move frequently ADT is a terrible service make sure you read every piece of document with ADT make sure the representative goes over everything including the three-year contract if you move the contract starts itself over again for another three years it’s not worth it if you don’t own a home

    Phone customer service is horrible. I waited 20 minutes on hold to very irritating and repeating sales pitch. Technician lied about fees and price. Worst of all, I can’t cancel due to very long contract terms.

    Awful awful awful. Stayed on the phone for 30 minutes to get a terrible introductory rate that I could not speak to my husband about before I purchased. I was planning on going with adt didn’t even research other companies til I called and realized they will play you to get your money. I want an honest company that won’t pressure and fear of loss me into a BAD deal. There’s too many good people out there with integrity – don’t go with ADT.

    STAY AWAY! THIS COMPANY IS CROOKED. I WAS A CUSTOMER WITH ADT and allow them to deduct from my account every month. They made a mistake and overdrafted me and instead of making the entire payment that was owed they shorted my reimbursement-by almost 3 dollars. I didn’t make a big deal I just pay the difference to my bank. When it was time to make my next payment I called ADT and told them the money is in the bank and they told me no we wont deduct it until the following month. Well here it is the following month and I put my money in the account the day before and they took out a DOUBLE payment! The customer service rep says it’s nothing that she could do because I wasn’t informed but pull the call and tell that person the correct way of what THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID! So basically I’m out of my money now. I AM LIVID. NO ONE HAS MONEY JUST TO BE THROWING AROUND AND MAKING DOUBLE PAYMENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WASN’T THE CUSTOMER FAULT. I have made continuous payments nonstop since 2015 and this is bad business. Then they wonder why they have an ABUNDANCE OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS You people SUCK!

    Consumer beware.
    Poor customer service …stay away. I was a 24 year customer…….in which time I was burglarized once and the alarm failed to sound. I lost thousands …….ADT came out replaced the “faulty ” sensor and gave me a panic button for “free”.
    Fast forward.
    After reporting a rude experience with one of their associates I cancelled my service and paid in full for the current billing cycle.
    I received a bill and called the company and I was told that they require a 30 day notice so I had to pay the bill ( watch the fine print. !!
    I made it clear that I will not pay the bill and told them to take whatever action they need to but stop the harassing calls…up to three a day! Cell and home phone….. stay away….take a look at SImpliSafe……I purchased it after reading the reviews and have not been disappointed.

    One of the worst customer service companies I have ever had to deal with. They state that they are “always there” but in actuality they are never there. My business alarm was not communicating with central station and they finally sent a technician who agreed that we had a problem but stated he did not know how to fix the problem. Kinda like the spoof on the commercial. I pleaded that they send someone to come and fix the alarm and they have missed several appointments< Not shown up at least four and I am still waiting to have the alarm serviced and repaired. I think I will end up leaving ADT and could never recommend them to anyone. Buyer beware.

    The price quoted me by the ADT sales manager was not the same as the installer quoted me once he arrived at my residence. I was quoted $99.00 set up fee and 36.99 a month for 36 months. When the installer arrived, he showed me a paper with a quote of $4199 for all the equipment he said I should have. I told him I was told free equipment. He said the free would be for the very basic equipment. I told him to forget the deal and he immediately dropped the equipment charge to $545. I accepted his offer with reservation. After thinking the whole transaction over for a day, I decided to cancel my order and not deal with the company. I called the company and they agreed to credit back my equipment cost of $545.

    i ordered this service for my mother, and they told me the equiptment was going to be free, and they was gonna throw in a visa gift card and all this B.S…i guess since they knew i was in another state. that when the tech came to install it, they didn’t expect me to be there, and the tech charged my mom $658.00 for equiptment on her credit card, and they charged my card$ 140.00 and said it was a prorated amount for the first two months of service..i got to thinking about it over night and it pissed me off that they lied about their equiptment and service fee’s so we cancelled the service after just 24 hours, it took almost 30 days for them to refund our money, it sure didnt take them 5 minutes to take it though..i would never recommend this service to anyone.

    Since signing up, we have had numerous connectivity updates. Mind you, updates are great but they NEVER provide any notice. What occurs you ask? When out of town, you are unable to arm and disarm the system when friends are checking your home or when the pet walker/sitter is taking care of the dogs. It is ridiculous and frustrating. I will be joining the hundreds if not thousands of others who take their business elsewhere and terminate services.

    Awful sales practices! I am in the process of moving into a new house as a first-time home owner, and last night I took a break from moving/working on the property to eat dinner on my porch. Out of nowhere, a man walked over without introducing himself, and said, “Did anyone tell you I would be dropping by?” As a young woman, that gave me quite a scare because I had no idea who this guy was. I saw he was holding a white binder with an ADT logo on the front, so that was the only way I could identify why he had stepped onto my porch where I was sitting. He asked if I knew about ADT’s service discounts for new residents, and I told him I already had a security system (the stickers for which were in my front windows) and that I was satisfied. He began getting very aggressive and snooty, bashing the home security system company I was already working with. I told him that I was happy with that service and to please leave and have a nice night. He replied with, “Well, you’ll be calling me when that company goes out of business!” and stormed off. That is COMPLETELY unprofessional and inappropriate sales behavior. He failed to introduce himself, so how was I to know he was a legitimate ADT employee or an imposter trying to get into my house? He was not friendly at all and didn’t leave when I politely and matter-of-factly told him I was happy with the service I already had. Mind you, he also dropped by unannounced at about 8 p.m. when it was about to get dark outside. I will NEVER choose ADT based on that experience along. Terrible sales practices.

    STOP! Never use ADT!!! I was forced to move due to a relocation from my job. They have NO forgiveness and no shorter term contract than 3 years!!! Absolutely would not forgive balance of charges after having had service for 2 of the 3 years and they had to install NO equipment as my house was already set with all equipment. They have terrible ratings for a reason!!
