  • Home Automation: Slomin’s provides customers with a number of home automation tools that allow them to monitor and control their home’s security while they’re away. Customers can access door locks, thermostats, lighting, and both live and recorded video monitoring all from the conveniences of the Slomin’s smartphone app.
  • Installation: Slomin’s guarantees professional installation on all projects, and estimates between four and six hours’ installation time for each install (depending on the size of the job and the security features requested).
  • Monitoring: Customers can also rest easy with Slomin’s round-the-clock security monitoring and fast response times. The company even provides a form of false alarm prevention by providing customers with a unique password to be used in the event of a false alarm.
  • Contract: Slomin’s only offers a 60-month contract–two years longer than the standard 36-month contract offered by most home security companies. And while the company promises approximately $1,300 in free equipment by signing such a long contract, customers will be required to compensate Slomin’s should they decide to terminate the contract before it expires.
  • Fees: Prices start at $33.95/month for home security services, but if customers request additional equipment (possibly including home automation, or heating and cooling features), they could be paying much more. Unfortunately, Slomin’s gives no information on these other prices, and customers will be required to speak personally with a customer service representative in order to procure this information.
  • Our Recommendation: Slomin’s doesn’t offer the cheapest home security solution and locks their customers into long-term contracts. For these reasons, prospective customers should look into companies like Protect America and Frontpoint.

    I had issues with my cameras and Gary from slomins made sure he took care of the problem until I was happy I will definitely have my friends and family call and get there systems with slomins I was very happy

    Horrible customer service. Nothing by dissatisfaction with them and it’s only been 3 months. They made me signed a five year contract which I might have to get an attorney to help me get out of. I would NOT recommend Slomin’s to anyone. If you have issues with the system or maintenance on your boiler they make you wait two to three weeks for the alarm and thres to four months to service the heating system. Simply horrible customer service.

    I decided to go with a home security system to provide protection for my family. Salesman came out and was nice and told me upfront costs and that the equipment and installation was free. Had me sign an agreement for upfront costs and hand him a check. He also told me they will be here to get things started asap. That ended up being delayed for what ever reason. Then out of nowhere i get a email with an attachment saying i signed for an equipment cost. So when I contacted customer service and asked them about this they said thats the cost period. I told them your salesman said it was free install and equipment and that all advertisements online state exactly what the salesman said. So their answer to me was thats only for an inside camera not an outdoor camera. You signed the contract and there is nothing I can do for you. I didnt realize that a family company advertising to protect families are actually scamming them. Thats Slomins for you.

    Do not use Slomins. They are your best friend trying to get u into a contract but once they do, boy o boy, it’s ridiculous how many times I’ve heard “you’re in a contract”. The cameras suck the app sucks the customer service sucks. There is plenty of competition DO NOT use Slomins!!!!!!!

    Don’t use them! I had them install an alarm system on my home. The sensors keep failing so either they are sub par or the installer did a horrible job. When you call for service you have to wait a week to get someone to your home to repair. They are not at all consumer friendly. I have had to take many days off from work so they can come and repair a system for which I pay a lot of money monthly. Don’t use this company

    I have to say Slomin’s has the worse customer service I ever experienced with any other company. The lack of information it’s horrible. When you call their 1800 number you get unprofessional people who have no idea on what to do. If I wasn’t stuck with the contract I would’ve cancel the second week I had signed up. DONT TRUST YOUR HOME OF BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Horrible all around.

    Anything that goes wrong with your contract with them and they will fight you bitterly to the end. Money hungry company only interested in $$$, no concern for the customer.

    What they advertise is not true you can actually give the tech cash money and then I’ll say you don’t qualify for service and then they’ll tell you that you have to wait 7 to 10 days to process the cash payment before they return your money and a check..
    When you call a speak with customer service they have summer Her speech that they constantly say you’re asked to speak with supervisors if there are any because it is a family-owned business you’re never available when they don’t return calls. Still waiting on the return of my funds at all Douglas can say is we don’t need your money we’re going to return it I guess after they use it then I’ll return it when it’s convenient to them

    We have had Slomins Alarm system since we moved in (almost 4 years ago). I have never been late on a bill – my account is in good standing. I have never called them about an issue and my alarm has never gone off (knock on wood). Anyway, I switched out a door last night and the alarm sensor said it was “tampered” with. So my husband played around with it for about 10 minutes and couldn’t fix it. We called Slomins who quickly alerted us we would be charged $79/hour PLUS $60 to replace the sensor. Wait… what? I hung up. What aggravated me the most is while we were on hold I googled a solution (for the tamper switch) that worked. My husband was able to fix it in less than 2 minutes.

    So lets talk about the product – the app is okay and the alarm sensors are not top of the line. My mom had a delay in her motion sensor during an actual break-in and it looks like our motion sensor also has a delay. But it’s $30 bucks a month and we are stuck with it for another year or so. We can only hope for the best until we get new service. They don’t offer current customers anything (discounts, upgrades) at all.

    Now let’s get into customer service. I NEVER thought I would see the day where I would honestly say I found a company who has worse Costumer Service than Comcast.

    Where they went wrong: You don’t automatically try to charge a customer $140+ without saying things like “Did you try this?” Google was more helpful than the “customer service” woman. Also, when you are on contract with a customer that has never been late on a bill and who contract is coming to an end, you say things like “thanks for being a loyal customer for four years. we do have to charge you for the tech, but we will throw in the sensor if it’s broke (which is wasn’t).” This lady offered zero solutions and was very quick to try to charge us. So let’s be real – if I am paying money every month for you to monitor your equipment – I do expect you to be at least 50% responsible for equipment failure/upkeep. Take for example my arch nemesis Comcast – they charge you for a tech to come out, but I have never been charged for equipment. YOU CANNOT PROVIDE YOUR MONTHLY SERVICE IF YOUR CUSTOMERS DON’T HAVE WORKING EQUIPMENT! Anyway, I will be looking at my contract when I get home from work today. I was 22 when I signed up and I didn’t look very hard at the fine print. As a naive young adult, I assumed Slomins was a reputable company that looked our for its customers. I would never recommend this company and I hope they start treating their loyal customers better.

    I had a Sales rep come to my home for an estimate. I asked if I could see a brochure that had services as well as pricing listed so that I can see exactly what types of services and add-ons I could consider as well as their pricing. He told me that they do not offer anything in writing. I told him that I was a visual person and I would like to see what you have to offer. He proceeded to tell me “Well I’m telling you what we have”. That was the biggest turn off!!! I am not a person that is sold by someone just speaking to me – I need to see things. I need to review services as well as pricing. I completely shut down after that. I will not use Slomins because I feel that they are not up front with people and their services. Too add too – because based on some of the items they had to offer – I probably would have signed with them. Their loss!

    Poor customer service, call center people are rude and over talk you. took over 3 weeks to have a technician come for repair, then became awfully late. I cancelled them. Slomans then said due to the weeks my service was broken i still have to pay service charge. As of Now I am waiting for Supervisor to call me back to discuss problem. When I called and asked for a supervisor i was informed there busy, I can not wait on hold, they will call me back. when they do I will update you on this.

    My inital reaction to this company was that things seemed to be ok. The salesman seemed knowledgeable and my family decided to go through with them as they seemed to be a viable option. This company never showed uo for the agreed upon date to install my cameras and when I called customer service they stated that the agreed upon date was approximate. They came another date and stated that we were not available. If the date was not for sure, why wouldn’t they call and state this as people need to be at work and cannot afford to take off days for an “approximate date”. When attempting to reschedule, they told me they do nott do not make house visits during the week of Christmas nor the week after Christmas at all. My father called later on the same day and miraculously they were able to make a visit. The day they were supposed to come, they stated that they would be here between 8am and 1pm. No one showed up until 2:30 and they did not have the cameras and would not get any until after the new years. Well if you don’t have the cameras why would you come at all? Why would you not tell us before we wasted our time staying here for hours waiting for you, especially when both I and another member of my household spoke to a representative the same day and this could’ve been explained to use. This company wasted no time taking our money however failed to abide by the contract. The customer service representative I spoke to in order to cancel the account was very unprofessional and blamed us for not being at the home on a day that was not agreed upon for the installation. I surely hope this does not happen to all people, however be aware. This company did not deliver on their word despite charging me for it already.

    I have been with Slomin’s around 2001 or 2002. They are liars and the customer service is horrible. The people on the line don’t care about what is going on with our problems, and they seem like they also don’t care about what we talk to them about. I’ve been having problems with my front camera that is connected to the Slomins app since December 5th of this year. I told one of the service people on the phone that this needs to be fixed immediately because you never know if someone will pull up to your house and harm you when you go out. They have set up a meeting to see it on December 20th to see whats going on. Then they told me that my front camera isn’t working as well because of the bad weather, wind outside, and the snow which is a lie. If that actually happened, it would affect on the back camera as well. They told me that there is something that is unplugged which is another lie. They use lies to make you sign up for their services . If this was such a good service they would’ve helped us as soon as possible. I can’t leave Slomins until the 5 year contract is up and now I am locked with them until then. This is a horrible home security system to set up, they know that they aren’t good and they try to lock their customers in. I advise people to not choose Slomins because of their bad customer service, and guarantee/warranty.

    Slomins has the worst customer service for any company that I have ever dealt with. I made an appointment to service my boiler of which I had to wait two months. On the day of my appointment which was last Friday December 8, 2017 after sitting home and waiting all day, I got a call from Slomins at the end of the day informing me that I have to reschedule because of the snow and they need for them to service those customers without heat. On Friday December 15, 2017 my rescheduled date, I am going through the same exercise sitting and waiting not knowing when the service technician will show up. I called customer support only to be told that they are servicing customers who don’t have heat and they don’t have a time specific time when they will show up and the only reason they did not reschedule me today was because they did once already last Friday. This is totally unaccepotable. Slomins have no regards for people’s time. I don’t understand how they can continue to do business like this

    They are thieves!!! I called for service was told 3 days. Service guy comes & said he needs a new board & will be back the next day. The day is passing so I call up to find out what time I should expect the service guy back & was told the “board” will take 3 to 5 business days to get and $425. I can’t believe it would take that many days to get the part so I went online & found it for $56 plus shipping & I can have it in 2 days. I ordered the part & had it in 2 days told Slomin’s to come finish the job & they tell me it’s going to be $275 + tax to install it. I have a service contract with these thieves & have been a customer for over 15 years but they don’t care! They say they’re family owned but I think, if the “family” knew how bad their business is being managed they wouldn’t be so happy.

    Told salesman that we may we selling our home within a few years and specifically asked what would happen with their 5 year contract. He told me & my husband that we leave the equipment for the new owner and they will place new equipment in our next home. HE LIED to us. They want us to get our buyer to take over the contract or we owe the rest of the 5 years on this house( over $600) and we would have to sign a new contract on our new home.
