  • 2-year contract & fluctuating prices: Xfinity home security requires a 2-year contract at minimum. This is very similar to other service providers in the market but with one major difference. Xfinity contractually reserves the right to increase your monthly monitoring fees after the first year of service. And they are known for doing so often.
  • Additional Xfinity services required: In order to get access to Xfinity home security, you have to first utilize other Xfinity services. For the most basic home security packages, you’re required to have their high-speed internet service. For the more comprehensive home security plans, you’re required to have one of their “home packages” which includes a bundle of both internet and TV services. Because of these requirements, it creates a situation as a customer where you’re paying much more each month then you may have originally planned just to get access to Xfinity’s home security possibilities.
  • Core customer service complaints: Former and current Xfinity customers on the home security side have complained of problems with delays of service, billing issues resulting in extra fees, and poor customer service over the phone. A majority of the consumer reviews we have received here on this website regarding Xfinity have been negative experiences with the home security service.
  • Our recommendation: We recommend going with a more cost-effective solution that gives you an equal amount of home security technology but at much better pricing and with much better levels of customer service. Companies such as Frontpoint Security and Protect America.

Terrible service, can't support all forms of burglary protection, like glass break sensors. Outdated equipment. Filthy uninformed technicians that leave dirt marks all over you walls. Salespeople who don't put the right notes in the instructions. Horrible phone support that takes at least 10 minutes for anyone to pick up the phone. Absolutely terrible experience start to finish. Had to cancel it the day after they installed due to all the misinformation and sub-standard execution. Need to file an insurance claim now to remedy the damage they did to my house. Took 40 minutes of my time to call them to cancel and file complaint. World class terrible consumer experience.Read More

If you're going to spend money on home security do your self a favor and stay away from Xifinty Home. Take your time do research and invest in good home security. I will never use Xifinty Home security system again. Too many problem and glitches. You get what you pay for. I had too many false alarms and two caused me to leave work because it. Don't hate your time. I will never use any of comcast services again. Too much misleading going on. Customers service reps need better training. They say you're a valued customer but I never felt like one. Three years and I am happy to say I feel relieved to no have them or their high prices.Read More

The xfinity home app is absolutely the worst!
The app takes too long to view cameras, by the time the camera functions the person at front door has already left!
Another issue is there is constantly ‘errors’ connecting to app.
If I try to use the ‘light’ function, once again it reads ‘error.’
The concept is great, if the app worked!!
I have spent so much time talking to xfinity only to be more irritated because the customer service is also terrible!
Comcast/xfinity want my money or threaten to interrupt service, however, they DO NOT fulfill the contract by providing service I am paying.
Once contract expires I will go back to ADT!
I cannot recommend xfinity home nor can I commend the customer service, or lack of, because comcast/xfinity DOES NOT care about the service, they just sucker one to get and then does NOT fulfill contractual obligations!!

Monthly pricing is way overpriced. When I called to cancel after fulfilling my 3 year contract, they offered a greater than 50% price reduction if I stayed with them. They should have offered the reduced price after I fulfilled my 3 year contract was up, then I may have considered renewal. The service and hardware were acceptable however they could not locate the base control panel where I wanted it because their control panel could not receive a WiFi signal.

Wow! I cannot understand all the negative reviews. The system works great and since it is wireless it looks great with new and older homes. The installation fees are very competitive and have added discounts. Monthly fees are also low, as after the first increase in 12 months you continue paying the regular rate. has not increased in 5 years. There is no charge for the backup cellular connection-ADT charges! This is not your typical on/off system as you can program the setting however you like. Cameras also have a wide viewing angle. The only downside is the customer service on occasion. Other than that-great product with a completive price.

Used the move optionthat they offer. I removed the eauipment from the old place, when the installer cameto work he informed me taht I had to sign a new contract. I asked about the old contract and was informed that it would cost me $750.00 toget out of it, or if I sign the new contract they would forget about it. So the choice is to give in to their scam or pay their extorision.

Sadly, all the negative comments posted for this APP is 100% true. It is very frustrating to deal with. When it works it is great but when it doesn’t, be prepared to go for up to a week without service. When you call for tech assistant, also be prepared to be left on hold for a while after being transferred around the world. Yes, you are stuck for the duration of your lovely contract.

Works great when it works. We get about a three month stretch of it functioning normally, but then it loses conectivty. Call support and they’ll tell you to reset it. When that dosn’t work they send a tech who will tell you the only option is to move all equipment (Internet modem, cable, everything ). The best part is you get stuck with them for 2 years. Do not buy this system.

Words cannot describe the nightmare I have had with XFinity Home. I have been on the phone with Comcast customer service for hours and hours and days and days. Please do not make this mistake. I had called Comcast to lower my monthly bills. I was convinced that my bills would be no higher and that they would switch my home phone service for the security system with no extra charge. As soon as the system was installed, I saw an email go across my phone that my bill was $499! I had been scammed!!!! Called for days and days trying to get my bill to what I had been promised. I finally gave up on the two extra sensors that I was charged for and asked to have someone come out and fix the system because it made so much noise during the night, and would send an error message. At that time, they let me know that my system had not been connected. I did not even have it!!! How are you supposed to know if you are safe or not???DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS! YOU WILL REGRET IT! I PROMISE!

The worst rip off. Had Xfinity cable TV and cable modem for $115/month. When I added Xfinity home they said bill would go up to $126/month. Said price would be fixed for three years. Paid about $500 extra for equipment beyond basic stuff. At start of year two they raised monthly rate to $148/month. I argued until I was blue in the face but they wanted $700 to break the contract. Just starting my 3rd year and they increased the rate to $187/month. So I am paying essentially $67/month now for alarm monitoring when ADT or Bay Alarm would have been fixed at $29/month for three years. Total bait and switch by Xfinity. The system is cludegy too. Took over a year to get night-time motion detector zones to work. Exit arming procedure is flakey. No 800 number to call to get to a central monitoring center so there is no one to talk to about alarms, vacation instructions, etc. All in all go with anyone other than Xfinity.

Xfinity has the WORST customer service ever!!!! I had a faulty smoke detector which caused the alarm to trigger. It took 1.5 hours to get it sort of resolved. Multiple phone calls to Comcast left me in tears. There is no direct number for security system issues so one must go through the entire Comcast menu, over and over and over. After being disconnected twice, on hold umpteen times, a visit from the local police, we finally got it turned off. The solution? Putting the system in test hold for 72 hours while I waited 3 days for a technician appointment. This left me without any security or fire monitoring for 3 days. I will be canceling the service tomorrow. My advice…..just don’t!

Much to my surprise, I heard back from the Sales Consultant within an hour who I purchased this deal through. Between him and his manager, they will make good on all items that were presented to me on the original purchase. It appears, so far, that the system will be installed to our satisfaction and that they will be able to take over our existing system. Apparently, there is no way to edit my first review, so I’ve done this 2nd review.

We just turned away the installation technician from our house. It turns out that what we were told at the sales counter in Lynnwood, WA was not what we actually will get without nearly twice the initial cost originally stated.
    List of Surprises as follows:
    1. The one camera that comes with the system is only an indoor camera and if we wanted an outdoor/entrance camera, that is extra as it as has to be hard wired.
    2. The smoke/fire detection and carbon monoxide detection was told to us to be included with the system we were purchasing. The technician informed us that it was not included.
    3. The salesman did tell us that there would be an approximate $99 charge for them to hook up our existing door sensors and motion sensors, but never scheduled the electrician to do so. The installation technician informed us that Comcast will deduct the same number of sensors from our order as the number of existing sensors they are hooking up – which means that I have to pay for sensors that I already own and if I want enough sensors to cover all my windows too as originally planned (which I thought that I already purchased in my order) I would have to purchase even more sensors.
    4. The technician also told us that Comcast will not use any other company’s existing smoke/fire detector and that we had to use their detector. He also told us that they would not do anything until we had a fire/smoke detector in every room in the house which he amended before he left to be one in every bedroom.
    5. I was also informed that for hooking up my existing system to the new system, it would require that they schedule an electrician for anything that is hard wired.

So, for what I thought was about a $340 initial cost, it would have ended up being about a $595 initial cost.

I am beyond disappointed and will most likely not agree to have this system installed. I will have a rough time trusting Comcast going any further on the security system, but now we have to go back to the Lynnwood, WA customer service counter and take a number and wait to get this resolved.

I hate this company!! Charged crazy installation fees, installation people were 5 hours late and took the entire day to install. There’s is no way out of that 2 year contract unless you die or are willing to pay $1000! I moved from a 3000 sq ft home to a 2 bedroom apartment were cable and security system was provided. Right now I’m still stuck with 2 systems because comcast has no provisions to let you out of 2 years!! I hope the power of social media forces them to change or lose customers!! By the way, customer service is very very bad and unprofessional – getto!!

While I do not have an issue with the service there are other hidden factors like the small print.
They lock you into a 3 year contract, don’t move an make a transfer, you will find yourself in a 3 year contract again without even knowing, the small print and no explanation. The other part to this is, I have 14 months left on the contract that would be $520, if I cancel today it would cost me $510, can someone explain that to me. I am not complaining about service but rather the tie down, this is irresponsible.

we are definitely not recommending Comcast Home Security to anyone. We had it installed a week ago and we noticed that our internet was slow so I called Comcast to report the problem. That’s when I found out that our home security system was deactivated. When I told them I did not call to deactivate it and I askef them who deactivated it, they told me that the technician who installed it deactivated it!!! All along we thought our home was secured only to find out it has been deactivated. And why will they deactivate it when it wasn’t I, the homeowner, who callef them

They are charging me over the next 6 months $1500.00 for this system. I was totally unaware of any of these outrageous charges. We changed from ADP and Direct TV to Bundle it all.. when into the Chico CA store and was given a great price and deal… or was it..1st the missed the original install day or both systems and change it without my approval.. Move the to another day.. and I get my Internet, TV and Phone.. but No Security install which is why they said it had to be changed…. without call me back to schedule my security install I get a call the night be for they’d be there between 7:30am and 10.. arrived 8:30.. left about 12:30.. all is good.. then the BILL OMG !!! Pay very close attention when they try to pull this on your.. FALSE ADVERTISING !!!!!! BEWARE.. I SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH DIRECT TV.. PLUS XFINITY CUSTUMER SERVICE SUCKS !!!!!

I really enjoy being able to view my hike at any time and disarm remotely. The installer was great very knowledgeable and accommodating. I have had zero problems with my system since it was installed. I currently have 4 cameras, 5 window and door sensors and 2 remotely controlled outlets. I like being able to set up rules. they work just like Excel if/then statements. If “this” happens, then “this” will happen. example… If any door is opened while the alarm is set, then each of the 4 cameras will record a 15 second video. There are countless rules that can be set by the user from the Xfinity Home web page.

The only problem that I have is the cost for additional sensors and cameras. $50 for a door or window sensor seems a bit extreme, plus a install fee. I think the cameras go for $150. I will be expanding my system, but I will be buying my own cameras and sensors from someone else as I have found the sensors for $30 and cameras for $45.

I have had xfinity home for about 4 months now, overall I like it..but I’ll see if or when I unfortunately need it. For someone who just wants it to work without tinkering this is not for you. It can be very finicky if poorly setup which mine was but after buying cameras and sensors of eBay as well as changing almost all settings and redoing the entire install it works great. They contact me after an accidental alarm trip very quickly and I rarely have issues with the system although some glitches happen (very rarely now). Customer service is useless but its an easy system to learn so fixing it isnt daunting with some proper research. I will switch after my contract and not recommended it to others because there’s cheaper, better and more reliable options but I’m not disappointed enough to regret my decision. Overall when set up properly and you want a bundled easy to pay bill it is a great home security system.

Don’t get it… Run, don’t walk. Service is spotty at best. They will not work with you and say, you signed the contract. But they do not provide the service or even attempt to work with you. I ask for a camera as at times you cannot set the alarm, and I was quoted $180 for one camera. When told, I would not need a camera if I was able to set my alarm, they say there is nothing they can do. RUN FROM THIS PoS SERVICE.

I spent over an hour on the phone trying to get my camera fixed. I spoke to 5 different associates 3 of whom hung up on me and I had to call back. One of those 3 was a supervisor. The last call was 28 minutes and I was told the supervisor was still not available so I hung up. I have had their service for 4 years and have had a problem with the same camera site multiple times. They can never give me an appoint after 4 which is when I am home. Why should I have to miss time from work when they are the ones who keep having faulty equipment. When I had an issue with my phone it took over a month and a report to the FCC to get it fixed…then they told me I was not to contact the FCC again.

The customer service for Concast Home is the worst (possibly even worse then other Comcast services). To keep a long story short, they sent us a self installation kit for two extra sensors that doesn’t actually work with our device, then in seven different phone conversations proceeded to tell us conflicting things about how to resolve the issue. Some said we needed to have someone come out again to install the sensors and that we would be charged again for installation, some said we wouldn’t be charged, others said we could do the self install but couldn’t tell us how to do it, and on and on… The last was the one who told us we’d get free installation but had to wait until after the 30-day period that we could return it was over. Do not use Comcast for home security!

If the first driver would have responded he could have prevented or at-least had the police out to possibly catch these people who violated me!!! I’m very unsaftisfied with the response that I have received from Supervision from Central Services and Xfiniity, why does it take 3 different companies to monitor, Xfinity hires Central, Central hires COPS security!!! Comcast has been selling a service under the brand Xfinity Home. Comcast calls this service a security system when it should be labeled “for entertainment only”. The security system is unreliable. Comcast locks customers into a contract and then extracts large fees if a customer wants to end the service which does not work. It is time to organize and put a stop to this practice. Add your name to the cause and join us. Add us to your circles and help spread the word. i used the door/window alarms and cameras. The door alarms were nice as I could monitor comings and goings. The camera app worked but the pic was not clear as other brands of cameras and there was no zoom or the recording I wanted. I went to cancel and the xfinity rep promised me a new roll out would meet all my needs. He said he would extend my 30 day free trial period so I could test the new roll out that would be mid-June. I agreed to not cancel and then called back a week later to get my new 30-day trial period date and was told there was no notes to extend my trial period and that my trial period had ended and if I were to cancel I would have to pay $800.00 early termination fees. I’ve had nothing but problems and each rep telling my something different each call with them since. So beware!!! I will never go with xfinity again

terrible system. The batteries are constantly going out and I have to have a service call to replace. AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME. When I first got package, they said the batteries should last 5 years. I got 3 to 6 months out of them.
Today while talking about the problem, they hung up on me.

Today is: FRI.-8/21/2015, and I’m still experiencing the SAME issues, that I described in my Earlier Entry (On This Site)>>JULY 11, 2015 @ 9:27 P.M. <<.

My Home Security System has been HACKED, by two Live-in Maintenance men, who live in my Apartment Building.

Comcast Home Security (Xfinity), still HAS NOT Launched an Investigation, so that these TWO CRIMINALS can be Charged & Prosecuted!

Obviously, there is a VERY SERIOUS Developmental Flaw, that COMCAST does not want to be REVEALED outside of their Corporate Offices.

However, Comcast Customers & Potential Customers, NEED to be made aware, that their Home Security Systems are Extremely Vulnerable to HACKING!

Had my system for over 2 years, and techs have been to my house over 20 times. System alarm just goes off for no reason. Keypad always says trouble condition. I’m calling my attorney, I’ve had enough of this.

We have had Xfinity home Security for over 2 years now and have found it to be completely unreliable. Our system has repeatedly lost connection and then required a technician to come out and reset it. They do not charge for this service but taking time off work to wait for them to arrive is quite an inconvenience. We were told we had a two year contract when we signed up, and again today when we called Comcast. However, when transferred to the Home Security dept. we were told it’s a three year contract and that we are contractually obligated to continue paying for this service whether it works or not. On top of this we are moving to a new location and they say we have to pay for the instillation of a system that rarely works in our new home. We keep telling them we don’t want it and they keep replying with your contractually obligated. So annoying!

Lately xfinity home mobile app doesn’t allow users to stay login for hours for security reason according to Comcast, The is cumbersome & users cannot instantly monitor their homes on the road as we did prior to this new update. It’s not easy to login while away from home. . No one knows my Xfinity Home code – it’s not in the phone & besides I have Iphone auto lock if it gets lost. I’ve more very instinctive data in my Iphone than Xfinity home access. I can’t wait to have my contract to expires.

So we have this system for a couple of reasons. One is we have the rest of what Xfinity has to offer. What they don’t tell you is that one, every type of surveillance electronic instrument is costly and not the highest of all quality or best of the business, considering the cost. Second they could not hook into the existing system, only 15 yrs old. In fact the only serviceman who installs that type of system, looked at the box 15 seconds and said he couldn’t work with it. He ran out of the house faster than one could even complete a sentence. Obviously, not interested in upgrading the system. Once the contract is over, live and learn, all will be gone.

Okay I have the Xfinity Home bundle for one month, but in week 2 we starting having a slew of issues. All components of the system had to be removed and replaced. The tablet, 4 cameras, X1 box, and the router. Way upset cause I personally have 30 hours into 3 techs coming out over two visits and I still have the same issues which are as follows.
Cameras not connecting to the tablet.
Buffering on the tablet and I can’t see the cameras.
Can’t arm and unarm from the key pad or mobile app.
Mobile app won’t connect so I can see the cameras even when I’m home on my local network.
Xfinity has extended our one month trial and not charged us for the first month, but soon after having the techs out we have had the exact same issues and are very certain we may be moving on with a different system.

    NIGHTMARE

Xfinity hires third parties to sell and install thier security systems.

    My experience was horrible.

After install, Xfinity basically told me I was screwed by thier subcontractors, and thier was nothing that could be done.

They are currently turning services off that customers signed up for, but then saying to customers, even though we no longer off that service, you still have to pay the same amount for the duration of the contract.

    NIGHTMARE.

I made the mistake of falling into the Xfinity Home trap in May 2014. I got the 2 year bundle of cable, Internet and Xfinity Home for my daughter. She’s a college student with her first apartment. After the first year, the price increased. When I tried to transfer the service to her new apartment they are now trying to tell me that I will have a new 2 year contact. To make matters worse, my daughter just told me the Xfinity Home system doesn’t work and neither does the Xfinity on demand. She’s called and been on the phone so long each time she’s just given up trying. If I cancel, I have to pay $300 even though I have had the service for over a year. Then they have the nerve to advertise that they will help you move for $99.00 as if that’s a bargain. So Xfinity home will force me into a new 2 year contract and let me pay them $99 for the privilege. To make matters worse, I have two accounts with Xfinity. One for my daughter and one at my home that i’ have had for over 21 years. In my opinion #XFINITYSUCKS
Learn from my mistThey do not care about their customers. Learn from my mistake. If you are considering Xfinity don’t walk away, Run!

Works very well. Sometimes the viewing the cameras remotely is flaky but that seems to be rare. I have had the sensor tripped and I received text and email immdediately. It also takes snapshots on all cameras at the time of the trip so you can see exactly what happened. The monitoring company called me a minute later asking if everything was okay. Very happy with it. I do wish the cords on the cameras were longer so I can better place them but that seems to be an issue with all security cameras.

BEWARE OF XFINITY HOME SECURITY. They force you to verbally sign contracts over the phone, then stick you with ridiculous fees when THEY cannot transfer your service to another place. I absolutely will NEVER use Comcast/XFinity again & I will be sure to protect my friends from them as well.
By the way – if your internet goes down (which they FORCE you to get from them) – then all of your security is OFF. That’s a GREAT security system.
What a CROCK. I AM ENRAGED, They are a monopoly. WARNING WARNING
