  • 2-year contract & fluctuating prices: Xfinity home security requires a 2-year contract at minimum. This is very similar to other service providers in the market but with one major difference. Xfinity contractually reserves the right to increase your monthly monitoring fees after the first year of service. And they are known for doing so often.
  • Additional Xfinity services required: In order to get access to Xfinity home security, you have to first utilize other Xfinity services. For the most basic home security packages, you’re required to have their high-speed internet service. For the more comprehensive home security plans, you’re required to have one of their “home packages” which includes a bundle of both internet and TV services. Because of these requirements, it creates a situation as a customer where you’re paying much more each month then you may have originally planned just to get access to Xfinity’s home security possibilities.
  • Core customer service complaints: Former and current Xfinity customers on the home security side have complained of problems with delays of service, billing issues resulting in extra fees, and poor customer service over the phone. A majority of the consumer reviews we have received here on this website regarding Xfinity have been negative experiences with the home security service.
  • Our recommendation: We recommend going with a more cost-effective solution that gives you an equal amount of home security technology but at much better pricing and with much better levels of customer service. Companies such as Frontpoint Security and Protect America.

Terrible service, can't support all forms of burglary protection, like glass break sensors. Outdated equipment. Filthy uninformed technicians that leave dirt marks all over you walls. Salespeople who don't put the right notes in the instructions. Horrible phone support that takes at least 10 minutes for anyone to pick up the phone. Absolutely terrible experience start to finish. Had to cancel it the day after they installed due to all the misinformation and sub-standard execution. Need to file an insurance claim now to remedy the damage they did to my house. Took 40 minutes of my time to call them to cancel and file complaint. World class terrible consumer experience.Read More

If you're going to spend money on home security do your self a favor and stay away from Xifinty Home. Take your time do research and invest in good home security. I will never use Xifinty Home security system again. Too many problem and glitches. You get what you pay for. I had too many false alarms and two caused me to leave work because it. Don't hate your time. I will never use any of comcast services again. Too much misleading going on. Customers service reps need better training. They say you're a valued customer but I never felt like one. Three years and I am happy to say I feel relieved to no have them or their high prices.Read More

I FINALLY GOT THAT NON-WORKING PIECE OF JUNK OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! I just had to pay $200 to get out of the contract for the security system that worked about 3 months out of the 2+ years I had it in the house. I am not counting the time I had to take off work to keep meeting the techs they sent back over and over to TRY to fix it. I loved how the Xfinity Security team would send a Comcast cable guy by to fix the seciurity system 2x after I scheduled and took off work. Those times they could not work on it because they were not authorized. They had no explanation as to why the security group sent them over. I am not counting the damage to my walls that they left after pulling their first system out then putting an even cheaper non-working wifi system in. Oh and the fact that the Tech had no instructions to it. It was not even in a box. Of course it did not work! Then when I called to get that one working the nice ladies in India had me rebooting it over and over. gee that did not work either. Oh they also TRIED to add a $50 dollar fee for that worthless phone call for a system that had NEVER worked properly. We previously had ADT for years without a single issue. I am calling them today. I should never have left them.. Dont be fooled by the commercials on this system. That nice panel they show is NOT the control panel that goes on your wall to arm the system. They blatently lied about that to me at their office. Mine had to be put in a cabinet upstairs plugged into my router because they could not get the Wifi portion of it to work even during the brief period it did work. My advice is call someone, ANYONE else for a security system. I wish I could post pics of what they installed the 2nd time around. lt looks like a dollar store security system. Shame there is not a lower rating than 0. They count on the fact that after it stops working and they keep trying over and over to fix it you will give up and keep paying. Which we did. Then you will pay to get out of a contract for something that does not work because its more expensive in time and frustration than to buy your way out of this junk.

I booked the service in 2015/7 and the technician installed the equipment half way and left the house without any explanation. I did not like the service and asked to cancel the service. I schedule an appointment to remove the equipment. We waited for 2.5 hr and nobody showed up without any notification/apologies. THE SERVICE IS JUST TERRIBLE AND TOTALLY UNACCETABLE!!!

    Today is Saturday:

I got my Home Security installed on Wednesday. The installation guy was awesome, been doing it for 29 years.

That night the motion sensor stopped working. Called my sales rep who sold me it, the installation guy no one could help. Called technical support (one time transferred to billing which i know was on purpose – have seen those Comcast videos or heard the horror stories?)

They said they would call, they didnt then i called back few days later and heard i had a date for them not even telling me. How is a weeks worth of time acceptable for a major part of the security system not working? That was a Wednesday install to Tuesday fix date. Got them to change to Sunday.

    – CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS
    – PRODUCTS ARE LOW QUALITY
    – ONLY THING IS GOOD WAS THE INSTALL AND PRICES BUT PRICES DONT MATTER WHEN PRODUCTS DONT WORK.

PS one more thing i tested the system today to see how long it would take them to call. I set it to the lowest possible time for them to reach out so it would be quick. Took them 1:45 seconds to call. That is unacceptable a burglar can be in and out in that time!!

Im checking out Frontpoint and maybe Protect America and maybe ADT or even NestCam for the camera.

    Good luck!!!!!!!

Never get Comcast! A horrible trap! Comcast has the worst customer service EVER!!!! Their reps are very very rude and the quality of their service is horrible. My internet was constantly going out and every time i would call and find out why, their answer was that “Service is being provided within my area…” which had nothing to do with me. and since I work from home it was a huge problem. Another issue is when i called them to tell them i was moving and wanted to transfer my service to my new home, they told me i wasn’t provided in that area and i would have to pay $800 termination fee (home security) and $190 termination fee (Internet & TV). I didn’t terminate my contract. They did once they weren’t offered in my area. They told me i should’ve moved in an area where they provided service.

The service and billing I was promised didn’t come through. One camera running on wifi is useless. Billing bundle has hidden fees and instead of the $216 a month we were promised the bill is $280 a month after the undisclosed fees are added in. Our Internet is extremely slow with direct connection and tortoise slow with WiFi connection. Simply put, Comcast lied to us and their customer service stinks. The home security is a complete joke.

I had my Home Security System Installed in my Apartment, (Back in DEC. 2014), because LIVE-IN Maintenance Men were using their MASTER KEYS, to enter my Apartment.

Shortly after the Security System was installed, I began to see NEW DAMAGES throughout my apartment, however, NOT ONE image of these Maintenance Men ever showed-up in my Saved Video History.

I was on the phone repeatedly, with a Customer service rep., Voicing my Concerns RE: A Xfinity Home Security System HACKING! For MONTHS I was simply jostled from one CSR/TECH. to another>>Until I received a call from a TIER 3/TECH SUPPORT staffer <<who decided to Listen to my concerns.

I had to Clearly explain to this Tier 3/TECH Support Rep., that my Xfinity Home Security System Camera NEVER picks-up an Image of either one of these maintenance men, but Everytime that I leave my Apartment & Return home; I'm finding NEW property damage throughout my Entire apartment!

Therefore, there is an obvious Security flaw, that has allowed my Xfinity Home Security System to be HACKED.

I'm paying a very high monthly rate to Xfinity Home Security, so that my apartment can be Keyed-Into without detection, everytime that I set my Alarm & Exit my apartment. Needless to say, I am VERY disappointed with this Company!

They came to install at the beginning of the month, It is now a month after and they still have not figured out how to properly install without charging me extra. Many hours are spent on the phone and if the home security people do anything, then I have to call the internet and cable people and have them re adjust things too because these two branches of the same company do not talk to each other. They of course charge for the first month despite the system not been properly working.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so disappointed by service that I’m paying for. Oh yes I can, the last time I was extremely disappointed was when I contacted Comcast last year. I called Comcast on Tuesday because they sent me new batteries to place in my keypad home security system. When I put the batteries in the keypad didn’t work. I contacted Comcast and spoke to a representative they said they were having problems with the new batteries. She asked me to replace the batteries with the original batteries, the old batteries, and I did. Once I put the old batteries back in the old battery didn’t make the keypad work either. She said that she would send a technician out and she asked me if Sunday would work for me and I told her no. She scheduled it for Sunday anyway but I didn’t realize that until I talk to you the next Comcast customer service rep. They transferred me to SMC. SMC told me to contact Comcast because they only replace the batteries. To kind of make a long story short I spoke to someone else they told me too call back in the morning and there will be someone that would be able to come out the same day. I called back and they had no clue as to what I was talking about they told me they were going to transfer me to another department and they would be able to help me. At the end of the conversation when I realize where they were transferring me to which was SMC I told them that SMC said that they couldn’t help me. They contacted us and see what I was still on the line and transfer me to them anyway. Once again as soon as he said they couldn’t help me gave me a number back to Comcast. I spoke to another representative who said they would have someone call me back within 4 hours. That was on Wednesday afternoon and today is Friday and I still have not received a phone call back. I cannot express how deeply regretful in getting Xfinity/Comcast services. I have had nothing but a headache since I signed up with the home security service. One of my biggest issues is when you do voice your concerns or complaints and someone calls you back there is still nothing that’s been done to satisfy the dissatisfaction. I will wto changing services once my contract is over.

I have to say that I read many reviews from all over the web and decided to go with the Xfinity home Security for about a month now.. I have to say I am totally happy.. I have tripped the alarms numerous times and they always call within a minute or 2. I recently added a smoke detector and when tripped they have called within 30 seconds.. I also just purchased a (CO) monitor and the thermostat waiting for them to come in the mail. Xfinity customer services has been fine for me then only thing i don’t like this that they try to lock you into their system especially when it comes to trouble shooting and purchasing items.. They try to get you to have a tech come out to add it which is just not necessary and they charge fees! Also all the additional equipment I purchased and referenced above were purchased on amazon and Ebay Example Xfinity sells the thermostat for 129 then you have to pay 20 to install and 50 for the truck fee (Tech coming out).. I purchased the thermostat on Ebay BRAND NEW for $35 so people seel ti for us much as $49.99!!!!! They are the exact same items literally down to brand for a fraction of the cost they try to sell you.. The tech coming out is nonsense as I have successfully paired an additional motion sensor, smoke detector, siren repeater and when they arrive (CO) detector and thermostat. The system has always worked well for me and I’m coming from ADT Pulse. I liked ADT but to add any additional equipment increased our monthly monitoring bill so if I wanted CO monitoring it was an additional like 5 bucks or so.. Also the new ADT Pulse system is wireless as well so don’t try to say a wired system is better nonsense! I absolutely love this system and have no problems to date. People also don’t know with the monitoring when it comes to entry and exit there is a “Alarm Transmission Delay” that can be changed from the tech menu.. So I put mine to 30 seconds rather than the default 45 to 60 seconds. So that means if the alarm is tripped it would not wait 60 seconds but rather 30 seconds to contact the monitoring station. The smoke and hazard detectors contact the monitoring station immediately. This system is pretty nifty and can be customized to a certain degree. Like ADT you can also name your zone in the sense that if the front door is open.. The touch screen will audibly say ‘Front Door Open” when closed it will say ‘Front Door Closed” the only door they are missing is basement. They also have an assortment of chimes and tones for each zone even dogs barking, motion sensor and so on. I also purchased the siren repeater because we keep the touch screen in our bedroom. I like that it also has an LED light to indicate when the system is armed (Red) and well as it has a bright white flashing LED when the alarm is tripped like those emergency exit signs you see at business. The CO Monitor also has a Flashing white LED light when gas is detected!… For the people that say get yourself a real alarm, this is a real alarm system on par with ADT and in my opinion better. They stand behind their app and it is updated regularly as well as the web interface. Speaking of which it was updated yesterday.. I also have a camera that has never gone down. One thing I ensured when the system was first installed was check to see if it is properly monitored and it is. I tripped the alarm and they called in a minute or 2.. One thing I forgot to mention is that if the alarm is tripped you receive a text and email immediately letting you know an alarm is in progress.. it also says the monitoring station will be contacted in 30 seconds! Also you can set automations.. I set an automation that arms the system every morning at 7:15am when me and the family leave for work. Some people may have purchase the control system which is $20 per month but that is not monitored! Be aware of what you buy! Xfinity customer service definitely isn’t the greatest but that is when it comes to trouble shooting. The alarm monitoring is on point and I’m a happy customer so far. I also plan to add light switches, the water detector and so on soon. AND MY BILL NEVER CHANGES FROM $30 will at the end of 2 years it will go up to $40 but still cheaper than ADT Pulse and with way more features. With everything I have ADT would cost me about 80 per month and I paid $60 when I had them per month and that was with 2 motions, 3 door sensors and that’s it.. With Xfinity I have 3 door sensors, 3 motions, 1 camera, 1 smoke detector, 1 carbon monoxide detector, 1 siren repeater and 1 thermostat all for 30 bucks, 40 after 2 years. This is a real and a good system. I can’t give out the tech code on this to access the tech menu but if you search for a couple minutes and also on YouTube you will find it and its super easy. Also it gave me additional discounts on my home owner’s policy because I don’t only have intrusion monitoring but fire as well. Just call customer services and they can email your certificate. Also worth mentioning when every time you add a new feature example if you only had intrusion monitoring and you added a smoke detector there is no need to call Xfinity it automatically updates on the monitoring station end and in the system on a whole. I am a happy customer! Sorry for the essay but I think it’s important to know.. Sometimes people just dont know how to use things so they say it’s broken or doesn’t work!

I spoke to 11 different reps just trying to add a dang camera after a recent break in. I will say, the police got to my house quickly (in 3 mimutes) and we were able to find who broke in. So sorry I left dish. Can’t wait for this contract to end. I’ve never in my life been so dissatisfied with any service in all my life. When my contract is up then I’m done with crap service. Once they install, good luck with your security. Like most security companies, they have a direct phone line to call and the hold time is very little. We use to have ADT but switched to Xfinity because we cancelled our phone line (you have to have a phone line for ADT). My system was having issues just before I was leaving for work, when I call Xfinity for customer service the cant take calls because of high call volume! ? ! So, my alarm system will not work and I cant get anyone to help! Do NOT Get This System! Go to a dedicated security company! Xfinity customer service is horrible for all it’s products and I wish it were not such a monopoly! So much for “Security”.

Service is a scam… Worst home security ever.. Customer service is horrible. I left town for a few days and secured my house. I ended up having a break in and had 1000’s of dollars of my belongings stolen. I was never contacted and police were never called. I came home to a broken window and all my belongings stolen. I called to complain and was referred to a stipulation in my contract that they are basically not responsible so I was essentially SOL. DO NOT USE COMCAST FOR ANYTHING!!

I had the home security system installed through a Comcast Bundle, cancelled it in a week and returned the equipment. 10 months later, I found that I was billed a monthly fee of $39.99 for a service that I did not have. I called and was reimbursed $244. Later, $958 was deducted from my checking account. After few calls, I was told to expect a check in 6-7 weeks. Never saw the check. My calls are all in vain to get my money back!

What was I thinking! I should have read these reviews first…. I thought taking advantage of bundling my internet service with home security was smart, and would save money. I was wrong. Comcast falsely advertised the existing wireless system sensors could be used by comcast, based on that knowledge I went forward with the contract. When the installers came they said they could transfer “wired” sensors, but not wireless. After contacting customer service, they urged to go forward with the installation, as a supervisor would be calling to provide discounted options for additional sensors (we never received a call). The installation continued. The ethernet wires for camera power and communication are unsightly and strung along the walls. The cameras’ “live” feeds are choppy at best., no motion detection, no focus, limited view, 15 second recording options only when you press the record button…. what a joke. This is just short of a scam, I’m very disappointed, and embarrassed to have to admit I fell for such a poor service. Thumbs down!

So it’s been 6 months and this system has been great , I’ve read through a lot of these comments and I’m astonished by what I see. I really believe it’s the installers they have coming out to the customers houses cause I think a lot of them need to be retrained. My system works great and I even added in extras to make the system even more useful. Everything works like it’s supposed to I’ll be back for another update.

Xfinity home security and all Xfinity products are not worth the money. Their customer service is the worst that I have dealt with. It is so hard to get a real person to talk to and they say they will have a representative call you within 72 hours; that never happens. It took me over a month with constant calling to get something resolved and they still coudn’t offer any help.

The people we worked with were very kind. But, day one there was issues. We purchased the product, they installed it. 3 mos later, they lost us as a client. IE: our account did not show we had Xfinity Security. WE had to call get it re installed. Then we had to call to make sure the removed the charge for install as we “already” had it installed. We felt so insecure with the system as it made sounds all the time. Door open, side door open, etc.. We would go on line to my account, and all was showing online except the security. I gave up. I pulled everything out and dropped it off at UPS. Why anyone goes to the Comcast store when UPS ships it for free is crazy. In the end they will hit me with a termination fee. So all i can say is. “don’t buy this product.” We never felt safe. And in the end. Know body cares about our issues. Don’t buy the product.

I install XHS services. It sounds like a lot of you got a sh!tty tech to do your install. I am also well aware of the poor customer service. I deal with Comcast 6 days a week. I hate them. I digress though, the system does work and it works well if properly installed. The cameras are a bait unless you get the video monitoring for your cameras. I know it sucks, but yes if you move you have to either cancel and pay the etf or sign another 2 year agreement. You do not need Comcast Internet to have the XHS system. I have installed many on U-Verse Internet service. As with all things, do you research and make your decision off what’s best for your situation.

Basically I was the victim of a bait and switch by the Xfinity store at Delk and Powers Ferry during purchase of the Xfinity home security system. I was told verbally during the presentation that it would be cancelled without fee if I moved outside comcast area. No contract was presented until installation. It was signed for me without my being present. A year later I had to move and was charged a large and exorbitant termination fee. Customer service has been non existent as I have been lied to, hung up on and kept waiting numerous times with out any of the under trained reps able to even understand the problem much less assist. Also numerous promises to return my calls were not kept. I will not ever deal with Comcast again and neither should you. Worst experience ever with any company.

I would NOT recommend this security option to my worst enemy. They are impossible to deal with, they made numerous billing errors that cannot be reconciled, the cameras are not monitored, the installation was poorly done by a third party, the call center is the absolute worst possible experience. On a scale of 0 to 10…Xfinity scores a solid 0.

I had a bad experience with Xfinity Home a few years ago. The installation was very sloppy, white wires extended over the roof of the house that could be seen from the street. Very inexperienced installers, if they want to go into home security, which by the way, is a great idea when internet, phone and TV are already with the company.
I waited and heard that it was now wireless so I gave them another chance…..not good. I was not given what we talked about, the keypads fell off the wall. We haven’t used the system. Two key pads were missing and window devices missing. I am on the phone now having them come and collect their equipment. I never signed any contract or was offered one.

App never works correctly! Totally useless home security!! Go with someone else.

Horrible customer service! Horrible home security!! Horrible home security app!!!

Have had to call each month because the package we signed up for was never proper amount. Service would get interrupted because we would pay what we where told was the package amount, however, in computer it was a much higher rate. Service would get interrupted, then we had to pay a late fee and reconnect fee, outrageous!!!
This has gone on for almost one year! I regret getting the promo package, I fell hook line and sinker with the rep who pitched us the package that we where supposed to be saving on monthly bill but it is actually higher!!

The home security app never works and when it does there is a seven second delay.

I have contacted my attorney to file suit because for the erroneous charges, false representation and the contract obligates us to pay for a service that never gets provided.

Never again!!! Now checking into satellite.

Comcast’s Xfinity system ropes you in at a $29.95 a year (two year commitment) contract. What they don’t disclose at the initial sales pitch is that after the first year the fee increases to $39.95 per month. So, beware! The $39.95 per month charge seems hardly worth it for three flimsy window sensors. An equally flimsy plastic stick on keypad controller which to this day does not flash, beep or arm like it’s supposed to do, (YES. I’ve read the manual.) is faulty. The motion sensor is another stick on wonder. I worry about the batteries going out on these units? When I called Comcast, they informed me that for another $5.00 a month I could get a service contract for them to come out and fix, replace or exchange the keypad. WHAT??? I mentioned the batteries earlier. So, I’ll have to pay them $60 to replace the batteries? Seems like a lousy system to me for the money. Cheap product and terrible customer service and image. Money hungry cable company screwing us again. Personally looking into systems I can install myself with much better options. Can’t wait to drop Comcast. It also took them 3 months to get my cable working correctly when I moved into a home that was cable ready. They gladly charged me extra to trouble shoot the wires which they should have done at the initial installation.

System works good at one time I had no problems pulling up the cameras on my iPhone using their app. Now I can’t see crap. The cameras just keep trying to load but never do. The touch screen keeps reloading I keep unplugging the modem and router but it don’t make a different. Everything use to work fine up until about a week ago. I just gave up on calling them because it don’t help.

Terrible system, can’t arm motion detectors when you’re at home. Need to trick system into believing your out of the house by arming it with your mobile phone or opening and closing a door. I want my motion armed while upstairs. Many billing mistakes, and way to many calls for tech support that is useless. Should have never left ADT

I wish I would have read these comments before getting home security.. It is a total rip off..DO NOT GET COMCAST HOME SECURITY. It is not the consumers fault that you do not offer it where they want to move. Why have 3 year contracts in the first place. I was told it was 2 years and I will not have any fees if I decide to move where they do not offer service (THAT WAS A LIE) .. Now if I decide to move I will have to pay $800 early termination fee because you don’t offer it.. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET COMCAST SECURITY OR TV..

Buyer beware! If you have to move for work and don’t have the Home service for at least 2 years they will charge you $800. That was never expressed during the install and subsequent move I had while using the service. Now that I’m out of their service area I’m assessed for a fee I was never aware was possible. To summarize, either pay up or start new service at your current location. Sounds like black male to me but at least deceptive business practice.

I had xfinity home installed Dec. 2014. Left Pa. for Fla. Jan. 1, 2015. It’s now Mar. 10 and I have NOT been able to access the system on my i-phone or my ipad. At least 20 calls to tech support and they finally told me they can no longer help me. I’m trying to cancel my contract with them but Xfinity will not refund my installation fee and will charge an early cancellation fee. My next step is the PUC and Pa. States Attorney General. Take heed from my experience. Do not get Xfinity Home Security!

I found out that they are operating a security company without the proper State licenses. It is a requirement to have three licenses a corporate security license from the board of electricians, a technicians license for each tech from the electrical board and a department of public safety background check license from DPS. They have none of these required Commonwealth of Massachusetts licenses. Your state may not require a license.
