ADT offers professionally installed home security systems in 40 U.S. states. They do not offer home security in the following US states: Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire. Almost all equipment needs to be purchased upfront. Monthly monitoring fees start at $27.99 for basic home security, $52.99 to use the ADT app, and $58.99 for video monitoring.

ADT has a video plan option where for $58.99 per month, you get the standard security systems package along with a camera that includes video surveillance features that you can monitor through the ADT mobile app. Most home security service providers still do not offer video surveillance as a service. So if this is an important feature to you, you’ll want to consider ADT.

ADT Mobile App

With the ADT app, you can disarm and arm your ADT home security system, receive email and text message alarm notifications, and control your home’s smart devices like smart locks and motion sensors. According to the ADT home security systems website, the ADT app uses innovative Z-Wave technology.

ADT Guarantees

ADT offers a six-month money-back guarantee on installation and monitoring if you are unhappy with your current home security system. Additionally, according to the company’s website, ADT offers a theft protection guarantee. If your home has a burglary while your ADT system is set, ADT will give you up to $500 towards your insurance deductible.

High Monthly Monitoring Fees

Standard monitoring plans for new customers start at $27.99 for their traditional package and goes up to $58.99 for video monitoring. Those interested in the ADT mobile app or an outdoor/indoor camera, will need to pay more for the more comprehensive home security packages. The cost could end up being higher than other leading home security system providers. Specifically, their lowest plan is considerably higher than other industry-leading providers and their respective lower plans.

Undisclosed Information

Unlike other home security companies, like Protect America, ADT does not disclose how much added on equipment is. While you can see that the company offers three packages, it’s difficult to see the distinctions and what equipment is offered in each package.

    My daughter wanted ADT and she had cash to pay for the installation fee. She called and asked if I would pay it with my debit card and she would bring me the cash. The charge was $548.11. I asked the installer to verify I would only be charged ONE time. He replied, “That was correct.” Well I have just found out they have charged me 2 more times of $548.11 for a total of $1096.22. I have called twice already and have been hung up on intentionally by representatives that work at ADT. They keep telling me that there is nothing they can do. My daughter has also talked to them and let them know that I am telling the truth. BEWARE of ADT. I consider this fraud to knowingly charge someone’s card without their PERMISSION!

    I have talked to several employees that work for ADT. They have all been RUDE and not helpful. They are refusing to refund my MONEY. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

    High monthly fees with poor service. My alarm went off yes they contacted me but i wasn’t near my phone so I missed the call after 20 minutes I noticed the call I called home everything was fine, daughter forgot I changed the code , but the alarm was still going off and when i called ADT they said they were going to dispatch the police…WHAT!!! The robbers would have taken everything by that time if there was a real emergency and I just got an email saying the price is going WHAT? AGAIN??? yes I’m looking for service through someone else. ADT needs to decrease the monthly fees for bad service NOT increase it

    Worst service ever!!!!! Got me on hold for 10 minutes when I wanted to cancel the account. On a call back they were not able to give me an email address on which to cancel the service. Awful customer service! Do not ever use them!!!

    Monthly service charges were paid via debiting my bank account. This contract has been active for 19 years. During the first couple of years after the initial purchase of equipment and service, I received two notices of service rate increases. Then, many years passed. without notices of further price increases. Recently, by accident, I learned that the monthly debits to my bank account had more than doubled without my knowledge. Currently. I am getting the run-around re restitution for such devious, non-professional, business practices.

    Horrible equipment. Motion sensors don’t detect a person inside when in arm away. They convinced us to buy all this equipment, promised us a $100 gift card, it never showed up. When we call them about it, they keep transferring us and then disconnect. Terrible service, run the other way. Would not recommend this to anyone.

    Horrible company. Be prepared to wait when calling ADT to talk with a corporate parrot that only wants to sell you something…not solve your problem. When I first started with ADT, they said they had 2 techs for the entire DFW area so I would have to wait. When our power went out and the fire alarm batteries went out, we had 5 alarms chirping at us within 2 hours at 1 AM. After waiting about 10 minutes per call for support, it took 3 “techs” to figure out I needed to find a ladder and remove the smoke detectors or not sleep that night. I couldn’t cancel for 3 years. Only when you want to stop paying them money do they want to provide a service or lower their costs. Just say “no” and sleep knowing the peace of mind of not having to deal with ADT.

    disgusting service !!!! never use their services. when changing the password, the employee of this company did not correctly install something. due to his error, the alarm did not work. once again called the master. and for this they are forced to pay 234 pounds. Due to their mistake !!!! it’s just a nightmare !!!!!! we can’t break the contract, they are still asking for money. disgusting service. we will go to court!

    We called at 730 am today to cancel our service with ADT. We called 1 800 238 2727 to cancel as of 9/4/2019. They want us to pay thru 10/3/2019. We have been without service thru ADT since 8/12/2019. We have tried working with ADT to get this fixed but to no resolve.
    It is against all reasonable business practices to charge people for something they are not given or receive. We will remove the equipment ourselves and will cease payments

    ADT IS very bad!! Their cameras do not work. They make you sign a contract for 3 years. Their system did not work for us when we needed it. I wanted out of the contract as they were not able to provide the security we needed but they do not care and make you fulfill your contract anyway. A very insecure company that makes you sign a 3 year contract anyway. They must be afraid their system is going to fail to make people sign that long. DO NOT GO WITH ADT SECURITY. Not a good company!!

    I selected ADT they installed their system in my house, I spent a few extra dollars too be secure.. About 2400 extra dollars.. I’ve had more problems from the installation than I can imagine.. ADT is supposed too be professional, but their tech crews suck.. My system is shut down 99%of the time because my door sensors don’t match up and keep going off.. I’ve called ADT for techs and they don’t show up.. My account number is 13950353 if you don’t believe me..
    Yes I’m still getting billed and paying for my no good security system..

    I just called ADT to request a new alarm fob because the top of it broke so I can’t keep it on my keychain. I was told it would be 100 dollars to replace it even though it was their equipment that broke. I was told to go to Amazon and purchase some type of cover for it! I am a retired teacher and 100 dollars is a lot on my income. Now if I had lost it or did something to cause the break that would be different but I didn’t do anything. Regardless of my personal situation I think 100 dollars is too much money to replace a faulty piece of their equipment. I have had ADT for 9 years so much for loyal customers. I will start looking immediately for another security company. If there is some type of cover sold on Amazon why doesn’t ADT give them to customers to protect the fob. Maybe they are working with Amazon and they both benefit. My grandfather had a saying that a company is a body without a heart and no soul to save. Sounds like ADT.

    I already had ADT equipment in my house when I moved into it. ADT had a technician waiting at my door when I moved in (WHILE I WAS MOVING FURNITURE INTO MY HOUSE) wanting to sign me up. Since I already had the equipment I thought there would be NO CONTRACT. So I signed up for their services thinking if I didn’t like it I could cancel at any time. Those CON ARTISTS at ADT signed me up for a 3 YEAR CONTRACT. without my consent. NEVER said a word about there being a contract. I recently called to cancel my monthly subscription to ADT and that is how I found out about the 3 year contract. They wanted to charge me 1200 dollars to cancel my contract.

    So now I’m stuck with their BS service for the next 3 years.

    DO NOT SELL YOUR SOUL TO THIS SHITTY ASS COMPANY. They are a ripoff.

    Terrible company. Locked us in to a three year contract when we first signed up. They raised the rates during the three years but we were unable to cancel. Went to cancel as soon as my contract was up and THEN told that it takes them “four weeks” to process a cancellation so I would have to pay for another month of service. Terrible billing practices and when I asked why it took 4 weeks to cancel, they said “it just does”. Would never work with this company again and would not recommend them.

    Do not use ADT. They are deceptive. They have you sign stuff digitally never send you a copy, then change the story. I signed up a deal over the phone which included installation for free with a 3 year deal. They said they would review the details when the technician showed up. When he did, he started installing immediately. When I asked him to see the details, he told me it would be $1200 for installation. I told them to cancel at the time. He had a manager call me and we reduced the rate $500 which I paid. I signed the “contract” on the technicians Ipad. I never received a copy.of the contract. The tech told me someone else needed to come out to install the outdoor cameras which was scheduled. They never showed up. Now they are saying that the cameras are not included. THey could not explain what the $500 I paid was for. Their staff was rude, flippant and could care less. They are more crooked than the crooks they claim they will protect you from

    Horrible company! Not transparent with there packages. They end up charging thousands more and if you try to negotiate they threaten to report you to credit agencies. ALL Of their tellers are condescending it must be part of their training. Just a horrible experience. AVOID at all costs!

    I had cancelled my account 2 months ago because my contract was done. 2 months later, the company still withdrew 2 payments from my bank without authorization because I was told that eventhough I called and cancelled, they can still charge you bank account 30 days. Then they’ll cancel the debit. Short version: your bank account will still be charged another month or 2 months before they close the account.

    Waited 4 times for an installation technician to come. They called only once on the same day to reschedule, the other times they juste didn’t show up. When I called their customer service, they just couldn’t find our file and were completly confused. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, after the tech didn’t show up after the 4th appointment, I’ve been told the supervisor was on break and to call later. Very very poor customer service. I’ve never seen such thing. I cancelled everything. Sorry, but for a security company, they just don’t inspire trust. How can I rely on such unreliable people for my safety? A real joke… save your time and money and go elsewhere!

    ADT is a horrible company. The equipment stopped working and my new home was unsecured for 3 months. The alarm would go off and no one would call or nothing. We changed to Vivint, who are awesome, and ADT never called even though all there equipment was disconnected. The customer service lady blamed it on me and said I should have called someone. How in the he’ll did I know you was not monitoring my home until we disconnected you. I would not recommend them to secure a dog house. They are rude and obnoxious. I spent 26 years in the military and I have never dealt with such crazy. And to top it off refused to detail my last bill. We have received 3 last bills with 3 different prices. Done done done! Don’t get into a contract with ADT you will regret it.
