ADT has a video plan option where for $49.99 per month, you get the standard security systems package along with a camera that includes video surveillance features that you can monitor through the ADT mobile app. Most home security service providers still do not offer video surveillance as a service. So if this is an important feature to you, you’ll want to consider ADT.

With the ADT app, you can disarm and arm your ADT home security system, receive email and text message alarm notifications, and control your home’s smart devices like smart locks and motion sensors. According to the ADT home security systems website, the ADT app uses innovative Z-Wave technology.

ADT offers a six-month money-back guarantee on installation and monitoring if you are unhappy with your current home security system. Additionally, according to the company’s website, ADT offers a theft protection guarantee that lets you “get up to $500 of your insurance deductible covered if a burglary occurs while your system is armed.”

High Monthly Monitoring Fees

Standard monitoring plans for new customers start at $28.99 for their traditional package. Those interested in the ADT mobile app or an outdoor/indoor camera, will need to pay more for the more comprehensive home security packages. The cost could end up being higher than other leading home security system providers. Specifically, their lowest plan is considerably higher than other industry-leading providers and their respective lower plans.

Undisclosed Information

Unike other home security companies, like Protect America, ADT does not disclose how much their monitoring packages are. While you can see that the company offers three packages, it’s difficult to see the distinctions and what equipment is offered in each package.

    I hope someone gets this and is able to read my review.. I called ADT yesterday and asked if someone could hook up my security cameras I’ll pay just for the setting up of the cameras and not the monitoring as of yet. –They assured me on the phone, not a problem. AS I could call the geek squad to do this job as well..
    ADT assured me they could do this no problem and charged my card the agreed amount. When th ADT come to my home to set up my security, drilled a hole hooked up their device in my wall then said YOU HAVE TO BE MONITORED OR I CAN’T DO THIS JOB… AS IF FORCING ME TO GET MONITORED !!! … I was shocked and told the company they are liers. And decided to send out this message so everyone can read.

    AVOID ADT LIKE THE PLAGUE THAT IT IS…. Do not make a mistake and hire them.
    Avoid ADT like the PLAGUE. Do not use them. Ever.

    Do not make the mistake of using this terrible terrible company. They will over-charge you on invoices and then harass you with legal letters when you have not paid. If you don’t spot the over-charge they will get away with it. They immediately set their debt collection dogs on you and the harassment never steps. They probably make these ‘mistakes’ intentionally.

    The worst customer service any organisation can possibly give.

    They try to charge you for services they haven’t even done.

    They promise you that an engineer will attend, then he doesn’t attend and nobody bothers to follow up and yet they charge you for a visit that does not happen.

    Avoid this company like the PLAGUE that it is. I can’t believe they are still in operation.

    We have suffered a lot as a result of dealing with these unprofessional bunch of imbeciles.

    Instead, use a company called Verisure which is one million times better and has decent human beings working for it.

    THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER WITNESSED!!! It has been nothing but an ongoing issue with this company from the start. From one issue to the next, their customer service is by far the worst out there. I have been hung up on, yelled at and put on hold in the middle of my sentence for simply trying to figure out what is going on with my account. On one call, I was on hold for 30 minutes, and then the woman came back on the line and said “I forgot about you, please continue to hold”. And without even letting me say anything, she put me back on hold. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. They have been absolutely horrible and I would gladly pay more with another company to get treated like a human being.

    Everything is an issue. Where to even start. I bought a home that had a disabled security system, we wanted to activate it, so we called around, and ADT told us everything we wanted to hear to get our business. Well that was a HUGE MISTAKE! I regret every aspect of dealing with you guys.
    -I wanted my exterior cameras setup because someone had pushed them up. So we wanted them activated, and repositioned. ADT said they could take them over and set them up in the proper position. So we set an appointment. Well the technician came out and sold us a bunch of door and window sensors and said he didn’t deal with cameras. ADT completely ignored our original concern and knowingly lied to us. So we figure we might as well get the sensors in addition to the cameras, and we planned to call the proper department to set them up. Another mistake.
    -Camera guys come to activate our cameras after setting the appointment. And when on the phone, we were told that they can just take over the cameras because they were cameras installed for a security company that they did installs for. We also wanted to add an interior camera. Another mistake. They come to the appointment, and instantly say they can only do brand new cameras. Again, lying and ignoring our wants. Then, we also wanted the interior camera in a very specific spot, and when on the phone, we were told extension cords were available to make it work where we wanted. WRONG, they installed in the wrong spot with a nasty looking cord all over the wall. Then, they tell us to add a free smoke detector. Ok free, awesome. BIG MISTAKE.
    -Then we ended up getting all this stuff that we were being led to, all just to get what we originally wanted, and in the end not even get what we wanted. We were setup on Pulse with a doorbell camera. One week after install we had to call ADT to figure out why we couldn’t log in anymore when nothing had changed. We were told we shouldn’t be on Pulse because it was outdated. OUTDATED AFTER 1 WEEK!
    -Then the camera install technician, and the lady on the phone setting the appointment, tell us we had an outdated control unit, WHICH WE JUST PAID FOR A FEW WEEKS BEFORE, and that we needed to get the new one to support everything. So we say ok, thinking that there was no way we were going to have to pay for any of that because we had literally just paid $700 for all of that, but yet it was outdated. Nope, they wanted to charge us another $200.
    -Then the camera install technician, set us up on the ADP control app, and didn’t set up the doorbell camera, and conveniently enough, I had a package stolen off my porch during the time I could check the saved footage. Also, he left with the system not even ready to arm. A door that WAS CLOSED was registering as open all the time. So, I couldn’t even arm the system for almost two weeks. But I guarantee I’ll still be charged.
    -I talked to support a week ago and thought all this was getting fixed right away. NOPE! The technician stepped in my home for 5 minutes, looked at 1 concern, the interior camera mount job, said “wow, that was down wrong, I have to get authorization from a manager to fix it.” Never happened. He left and it has been 6 days, no call, no fixes.
    -And to top it all off, the alarm has gone off 3 times in the middle of the night for no reason at all! 1 time was because it said that the garage back door was open, it was dead bolted shut. I had to wake up at 1am to figure it out. 1 time, the system wasn’t even armed and it went off at 4am for the same stupid door, still dead bolted shut. And the 3rd time was at 10pm tonight, where the FREE SMOKE DETECTOR decided it wanted to trip the alarm, when there was absolutely nothing wrong! No smoke, not a soul in the area. And when I went to shit it off, it kept telling me to check my phone and kept beeping.

    I am tired of this cheap, sub par “security” system and I am even more tired of the absolutely atrocious customer service. I guess the ADT business model it to lie and deceive, install, then disappear and neglect the customer. The only thing I wish I was protected from was ADT, not a fire or burglar, the security company that was supposed to be on my side. Biggest regret for any purchase ever.

    My alarm system was going off for over 6 minutes at 1:00 AM, my husband and I were up stairs with our 6 month old daughter and wanted to make sure I was secured and my daughter before he went and checked to see what was going on. During the six minutes ADT would send a alert text but never called to confirm we were okay. When we bought the system we were advised that after 3-5 minutes a armed security guard would be sent out but no one ever showed up? Thank goodness no one was in our home and it was just going off do to our garage door blowing open. When we called ADT later in the morning to find out no one show up they said they tried calling but receive V/M from both phone numbers and also advised there procedure was not to send someone out but that is not what we were told when we purchase the system. The agent for ADT was very rude when we explain how scared we were and the agent made a smart remark stating he would pray for us. When we spoke with a supervisor she was just as rude and advised the same information. We pay over 60$ a month just to have a alarm go off and a text to be sent to us? Of course when we purchase the system we were advised of something different. I was so scared when this all occurred and my daughter and I were hiding in the closet while my husband went to check on the house and anything could happen to him. When we advised ADT we wanted to cancel they tried saying we couldn’t until 2021 even though our contract was for three years. All I can say about ADT is there customer service is the worst and there response was very rude and seem not to care or understand what we were going thru. The price you pay for the service is extremely high and everything they try and tell you about the service is untrue. I would not recommend purchasing your security service with ADT

    I was double charged 305.31 cents on the same day when I should’ve only been charged once. Now I have to wait 3 to 5 business days to get a refund. I had Bill’s due yesterday that are now late and I’m going to be getting a late fee on. They also owe me 159 dollars for not being able to install the garage door opener. Havent seen that yet either. To top it off, the Sale’s rep never mentioned anything about me being stuck into a contract. Awful experience this far.

    I received a come back offer from ADT which sounded pretty good. They advertised equipment and installation free (after a 100 gift card). The first 12 months was 19.95. The large print didn’t say how much it was after that and for how long the contract was which is what my husband wanted to know. The light grey tiny print on the back is where I could find my answers.
    So I called. I got a high pressure sales pitch and was asked for my last four digits of my social I said I didn’t want to give that out what was it for. I was told the credit check. I said I didn’t want a credit check run. So I was referred to another “manager”. I told him I really just wanted to know how much this would be after the first 12 months. He responded it is on the flyer…obviously it is 36.99 for 24 more months. And give me your debit card number. I told him I have an appointment for next Saturday and If it is something I want I can give you a debit card but I don’t think you need my debit card for you to come to my house for an appointment. He then told me “mam you are trusting us with your home and life and you don’t think we can handle keeping your debit card secure.!?!?” I couldn’t make him understand I didn’t feel comfortable with the conversation so I hung up on him.
    So today I get a return phone call and it sounded like the same guy but he said he was a different Chris. They give you employee numbers like I have a pen and paper in the other hand I am not using while baking a cake. Today I explained the conversation from yesterday and told him I didn’t understand why they needed my debit card when I didn’t agree to purchase anything yet. And the customer service “manager” raises his voice to me and says “well why did you call??? “ I again said to check the price and terms He said “OBVIOUSLY 36.99 what, if you don’t want to give us your debit card what do you want?!?!”
    Again I hung up. I am so angry! I had to pass my experience on. Usually you can feel pretty safe with a company if you call them, but I did not feel comfortable calling ADT.

    Never sign with them
    Their contract is a trap and they will rob you.

    I am moving homes because I am being relocated for work and I do not need security in my new address.

    Guess what. I need to pay 500$ to cancel a service I do not need. I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years and never missed a payment.
    Now that I need help and support they rip me off.
    I didn’t know when I signed the 36 months contract that I was going to be Forced to relocate.
    They do not care
    All they care about is grabbing your money.

    ADT is so deceitful! They sent me a “special” promo since I bought a new home offering me $100 gift card, free keypad and 15 sensors. When I asked what the rate was they would not/could not tell me because the installer would have to “assess” the home and would discuss plan options at the time of the appointment. Install day comes and he installs the key pad in the wall and then wants to go over the plan. For a basic bare minimum plan they estimated about 5K for sensors and equipment. Gave me “credits” and said I owed almost 2K!!! I asked what about the 15 sensors they advertised and they told me that only applies to pre-wired homes … which was later explained pre wired sensors are typically in older homes. So they are basically advertising obsolete equipment!!! After being sticker shock I told him to take the key pad out. He didn’t take no for an answer! Long story short he was able to provide the basic equipment at no cost, and they offered another $100 gift card. But I had such a bad taste in my mouth from this I said no! And now I have a FN hole in my brand new wall!!! What a scam!!!! I’m so disappointed in this company. I always thought they had a great reputation. Never would I recommend ADT. I’m glad my realtor happened to drop by at the time and see this mess! She now will never recommend them to her buyers.

    I called ADT for not getting alarm when I enter my house even though it has been armed. She asked me to turn the system off and back on a few times. That didn’t fix the problem. She said there has been problem with tower communication for past few months, off and on. When I asked her for solution she had no answer other than wait. I asked how long to wait she had no answer. I told her so we are paying for a service that we are not receiving.

    I’ve been a customer of ADT for about 9 years. Its been mostly ok except for a window detector that is set off by heavy gusts of wind. I have had to come home from work multiple times because of this alarm. In 1 week it happened a few days in a row. A tech came oit and told me i shouldnt open that window when im home because it makes tha alarm sensitive. Ok. I stopped opening that window. Promlem was solved. Recently the battery in my key pad was low. I called ADT and they instructed me to go purchase the battery at a home depot and go to Youtube for install instructions. When i took the battery out and tried to repace, i broke the system.

    A tech came out to replace in March. It was free as the customer service person should have scheduled an appointment for service. Tech replace with brand new system. No problems there. A few days later i noticed every morning when i came downstairs, the motions detector light was off. Finally one day i just walked freely downstairs. No alarm sounded. Called ADT only to be told that i have to open and close my frond door at night after i set the alarm for it to set motions. The person tried to convince me that this is how it always was. When i told them I have been a customer for 9 years and that was NOT how i had to set alarm in the past person agreed. Tech also never told me this. Next phone call as i needed to confirm this stupidity was worse. Same conersation except, he told me if i forget to open and close the door at night to set motions and something happens to me I am liable. His solution: buy more windows and door detector s. Yeah, then i wont be able to open a window for the rest of my life in case its sensitive. Last effort was on chat. Same story. I asked why this info was not in the manual for my system. She said she couldnt find it either and the new system (that she hust tried to convince me was always like that) didnt make sense. They are trying to sell it as a way to prevent false alarms.

    Their equipment is ugly, expensive and doesn’t work. About 1x a week there is a “communication error” that causes loud, non stop beeping every 30 secs and “ there is nothing they can do to turn it off.” I had one rep tell me to take a screwdriver and try to pry it off my wall as a solution because even tho tje volume was at 0 it rang loudly thru my house all day and night (super fun with kids). Daily, it takes about 2-5mins to connect to the app to turn the alarm on or off so its not functional either. If you don’t cancel 3 days from purchase, they won’t help and don’t ensure you have functioning equipment so expect to dump thousands down the drain. Bad service, bad equipment, bad customer service – a company that should really be replaced by their competitors.

    Hope you do aware once you sign the CONTRACT with this shady company, you are tied to their monthly payment for 3 FULL YEARS. There is no way to terminate it, even when you are selling your house! Be very careful with using their service.
    I relocated for job 1 year after installing ADT, now ADT told me I have to pay $59 every month for the next 2 years or 70% of the entire contract cost up front.

    HORRIBLE COMPANY! Stay away if you can. Don’t waste your time and money. The custom service is a joke and if you think asking for a manager is going to help you, its not. The people working for this company are the most unprofessional, disrespectful and dishonest people I have ever had to encounter with. All they care about is trapping you in a contract. They give false information about their cancellation policies and don’t take accountability for their employees. They actually had the nerve to tell me that they reached out to the technician who pushed me to sign the contract that he should no longer give false information about their cancellation policy. Is that the right way to handle the case? By a slap on the wrist? NO. They need to take full responsibility. Absolutely disgusted with the company.

    Absolutely horrible customer service and the sales are very misleading. I was told I’d be able to cancel my system within 30 days if it wasn’t what I expected. That was a lie. I called customer service and the woman was very hateful and told me that it wasn’t her problem because we have to follow the contract? I asked to speak to her employer and she refused my request.The lack of customer service is unreal. Once my contract is up or if I get out of it early, I will be a customer with ADT again.

    ADT is such a rip off. I called to cancel my service on 3/26 right after my bill was paid. They told me it takes 30 days to cancel it and i would still be charged a small amount before its cancelled. The service was never that good I feel i was paying for things that were never installed in my home. I moved 4 years ago and tried to transfer my service to my new house and was told i had to start a new 3 year contract all over again!!! I can’t wait to be done with these scammers!

    I will NEVER get ADT service again. The jacked up my monthly prices more than what they ‘said’ I would be paying. Almost at the end of my contract, I wanted my cancel the services and payout the remainder balance, in which I did. They’ve pulled out money from my back account, 3 months after I have already cancelled services. I’ve had to call multiple times so they can credit my account back. Everytime I speak to a representative, they give me my money back. But then, the next month, they pull it out again!
