We had ADT security installed on May 7, 2019. The technicians asked us, if we wanted basic service with rate $27.99, or service with cellular phone control and rate $48.99. We chose $27.99. After installation, the technicians asked my wife to sign the contract, told her it was basic service with rate $27.99. My wife didn't read it, signed. Later it turned out charging us $48.99/month but without cellular backup, even though the contract stated cellular backup. I called protect your home to change the plan. Protect your home/ADT sent two technicians today to reset the system. They told me, in order to set back to basic service, I need to have a home telephone line. Without it, $48.99 is the lowest rate. The whole process appears like a trick. It's not honest.

HORRIBLE COMPANY I've moved to a house in July 2018, the property is equipped with security cameras and I asked ADT if they could have their system plugged in our current cameras. Their answer "yes of course" They did their all sales pitch to me announcing me a price of $29 per month, which I found reasonable. The technician comes to our house and then tells us he probably can't connect the ADT system with our camera. Make a sign a document for installation and told us to call a number to ask for another technician to come and check the cameras. We called, and they told us they only can install their system with their own ADT cameras. FIRST LIE One month later I am being charged $55. I called again, and they said that is the price on my contract. I asked that if it is the case, I want to cancel my account I asked to talk to a manager and asked the manager to review the sale call. One month later and 10 phone calls later the manager told me that the salesperson didn't do anything wrong and that it was my fault for not asking properly about the camera. SECOND LIE But the best is to come, now I asked the manager to cancel my account and he tells me "sorry but you signed a year contract and can't cancel unless you pay $900" THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT? Fast forward, A YEAR LATER, I call to cancel AGAIN, ADT first tells me they don't do the cancellation themselves and transferred me to Defender ?!? Defender obnoxious agent ERICA tells me " sorry you have a 2 years contract and you can't cancel, you need to pay 75% of your contract now to cancel it, its about $507" I am moving out of this house, and out of the country but I still have to pay for ADT?!? I asked to talk to a manager, she says I don't have a manager. I Asked to be sent my record of phone calls with all ADT and defender agent she said NO. How is this legal? Why no class actions have been done? How the government allows this kind of UNETHICAL business practice? How could you force a consumer to pay for security on a place that you don't live in anymore? And how is it LEGAL for a company not to disclose and/or LIE about the service they provide and their pricing, and have the customer responsible and liable for this? Please DON'T signed anything with ADT, they WILL RIP YOU OFF. Call other companies before making any decision.

The representative who sold us a package has not completed his job, but taken the large amount he quoted from our account. what is our recourse? We were sold equipment which could not get installed for various reasons. Not got a refund for it. Out climate control does not work after they installed it. Sad and feel cheated!

Scheduled 3 times for someone to come to my house to quote me for a security system. 2 different technitions, no one showed up at any point. I was very calm and understanding the first two times, the third time they lost my business for sure. I called the company, they told me they would get in touch with the technitions manager and they would call me back. No one ever got back to me, I would NEVER recommend their service to anyone. Worst customer service ever, how could you trust a company that is so unreliable.

We was told at the time of purchase that the batteries were replaced free and they were 10 year batteries. Only had the system for 2 years and 5 months and battery already needs replaced at the cost of 120.00 so don’t believe the sales representative they are liars just to get you to buy the unit. Not pleased at all.

I'm a 20 year+ customer of ADT. We were out of town and had turned our cell phone off after going to bed. Our home alarm went off and the ADT guard service that we contract for apparently visited and inspected the house and reset the alarm although window was clearly broken in our back deck leading into the living room. Burglars spend several hours ransacking our house, casually drinking all our liquor, and stealing whatever they could carry. ADT took little responsibility and after many calls offered a small credit that was less than 2% of our loss. We have since hired a separate guard service but kept there alarm monitoring. For two days we have been unable to activate the alarm due to faulty contacts. I tried calling service and was left on hold for 15 minutes and finally advised that they would book service. they never did. AVOID ADT

As a first time home buyer and a single mother I trusted this company Do not believe anything they say ! I pay 62.00 dollars a month for a basic system that I paid 3 thousand for equipment then adt pulse which I was told was a indoor outdoor night vision camera absolutely not ! Not waterproof and window gives a glare so for 1 camera I pay the highest amount also stuck in a 3 year contract which I wasnt told about untill all the equipment was installed and 7 hours of my day gone do not trust this company adt pulse is a joke connects sometimes mostly buffers customer service rude the worst scam and ive actually had 3 technicians come to my house and appoligize for there 3rd party contractors the defenders and how bad of a job they did . They even put a sensor in my bathroom closets to the shower head DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY I SHOULD OF BOUGHT A SYSTEM AND DONE IT MYSELF OR TRUSTED ANYONE ELSE BUT THIS IS A TOTAL RIP OFF

Bad equipments, pulse doesn't work properly and very slow. Bad and worst customer retainer who plays around of being nice but are really nasty can't resolve issues that always favors them/ADT like you're the enemy after they take your equipment that you paid for then you want to getout because of bad service. The money back guarantee in 6 months they advertise is very untrue and deceptive, they are cunning and you're stock and taken and with them for three years with bad equipment and defective units and system. They got your money with hundreds of dollars on add ons that doesn't work and malfunctioning endlessly and with no resolutions.there are lots of bad people working at DAT specially Corporate Advocate higher ups. Really bad and sad experience I have with ADT this third time with them and will be my last with them.

We pay about $45 a month for no service at all. They do not acknowledge any of our alarms... they sometimes send an e-mail to tell us there was an alarm!!! what if I am getting killed by a visitor at the door who happened to force the door? They used to call and after we upgraded and pay more... they stopped calling to check on us! We are moving and we will have to pay big cost to get out of the service that we never received in the first place. DO NOT ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THEM!!!

ADT IS VERY disappointing. they don't monitor your service, they just collect each month your money. I don't appreciate being threaten by an employee and telling me that someone is going to break into my house. they tell you, if you want to cancel, you have to pay $$ to break your contract, wow.... what a bunch of crooks, as I don't have there equipment, as it was already in the house. they won't even adjust the bill, as I know they can if they wanted to. what is the real definition of ADT? aren't they suppose to monitor, and be there for you? they are NOT!!!!

We had ADT services for about 8 years. Price kept creeping up every year with no improvement in service or equipment. For the amount I paid, I could have been monitoring 5 houses with Ring Security (with more sensors per house). Additional problem is this: our system was connected via landline. The issue is that if you do not use your landline for anything but ADT, your line may be cut by burglar, disconnected by phone service provider, damaged by various contractors digging in the area and you would not know about it. ADT's system is flawed because it would still allow you to arm it and it will not even check if you still have the active line to enable monitoring. Our phone line got damaged 4-5 months ago by some contractors digging in the area and we did not know about it. We continued to use ADT, thinking we are still getting monitoring. When I found out and decided to switch, ADT was not willing to issue refund for the months when we had no service and proceeded to charge for next month of "services" even after I requested to cancel. It is unacceptable for security hardware, when it is "monitored", to allow setting it to Armed, while the communication with the service provider does not exist - equipment must be designed to check and alert the user when there is no active line. On top of that, the service provider must be checking periodically that it has connection with their equipment. Bad design, bad customer service and overpriced.

They have the worst cancellation service! Be careful when you are using the service, they do no early termination at all, even it is their problem! You are bound to a initial 36 month service!!!! You are required to pay full amount even if you decide to terminate early due to their issue!!! Their sensor is not tight secured on doors, they are very easy to drop on floor and cause a lot of false alarm!!!!

Horrible, have not used system in 5 months, my father died had to send death certificate ect... to close account. Took me 6 times to send documents before they said they received. Over a 6 month period. They charged my moms account for 5 months before I caught it. No refunds due to them saying they have not received documents, prey on a 85 year old person. Horrible.

Customer service is SO unhelpful! Every time I call in they need different random information or else they won’t help. They needed a password this time, well I never set one up and it took them 20 minutes of arguing to get them to finally acknowledge that. God forbid someone had actually broken in! I’ve called in a million times and they never needed a password but all of a sudden they will IGNORE you if you don’t have it when it was their fault they never set one up for me!!! Ridiculous, if I wasn’t under contract I’d quit and get Brinks.

Customer service is Terrible with this company. I spoke with a guy Adey who hung the phone up on me. Would not let me speak and told me I could not be transferred to a manager. They signed my aunt up for a 5 year term without her husband being there and she speaks portequese. Terrible company, terrible customer service. They have never sent anyone to check our equipment and if you move they try and automatically resign you to 5 years. Stay away

DO NOT CALL ADT! I called them a few days ago requesting information on packages and pricing. The man insisted they send someone to talk to me in person to give me the information and show me the different things they use. A salesman came to my house a few days later. After listening to the guy to go on and on and 3 hours, he told me he'd recommend that I go with a package that would cost me $4,000.00 and with a monthly fee of $52.99. I told him my husband and I needed to think about it seeing as how that was a big price tag. The sales guy told me that, "If you don't act today, you'll lose this promo and that promo." I told him we were willing to risk losing that because we weren't ready to fork over that kind of money so quickly. The sales guy then proceeded to get his supervisor on the phone and he asked that I speak with him. Boy was I in for a surprise. The moment I got on the phone the supervisor said, "What' the problem? Why are you not moving forward with installation?!" As I proceeded to explain to him that 1) I was under the impression that this was just an informational visit and 2) my husband and I weren't ready to make that commitment, he continued to make me feel bad for wasting the salesman's time. When I politely told he we just weren't ready, he said, "Uh-okay." and then hung up. His name is Chris (i think last name D) and he is with the Cleveland or northeast Ohio ADT department. He has made my decision NOT to go with ADT VERY simple. I even told my sister, who just bought a new house, and my new neighbors, not to go with ADT. This was not right. I strongly advise anyone reading this to look elsewhere.

They have the worse billing and customer service department that I have ever encountered!!! I canceled the contract 2 months ago and told them to send me the bill and I would pay it off. Instead, they left my alarms on and sent me a late bill. I then called the company and got transferred 4 times to someone who finally said he would discontinue my service and send me a bill. Today, like clockwork their billing service calls again. When I start to explain the whole story, this rude lady says "No, your service is not cancelled", so I start to explain again and she just hangs up on me! Never again will I contract this terrible company!!!

Last year, I upgraded to an ADT Pulse Home Security System with multiple cameras ($1,900. worth). The ADT Pulse Gateway Router PGZ NG1 is 'proprietary'(?) and I'm not allowed to have access to the 'preference pane' or the camera 'preference panes'. I had the system installed due to repeated burglaries (unauthorized entries) and vandalism. Interesting is whenever any one of a group of about four(?) people are close to my property my cameras won't record them, even though they are clearly within range. The entire camera system shut down for 10 days while I was out of town - ADT stated 'everything is working properly'. A few weeks back, there was a large gathering next door and the entire camera system went down for about 6 hours. I've noticed the camera live 'views' often appear to be jumping back and forth in time as people, vehicles and outdoor lighting will 'flash frame'. One of my vehicles was vandalized a few weeks back, well within range of two cameras and nothing was recorded. The 'ringleader' of this group taunts me about their 'activities' on a regular basis. System seems to work fine otherwise and ADT service people tell me there's nothing wrong with the system. To add insult to injury, the 'ringleader' was standing a few doors away in his yard with a person who appeared to be wearing an ADT uniform. This took place yesterday and happened about two hours before the ADT Service Person showed up for my appointment - different person. Hoping someone will steer me in the right direction.

I call for a price check and they get my info. The representative gives me the manager and she asks for my last 4 digits of my social for the file. She did not tell me it was a credit check and I told her numerous of times I was in the middle of buying a house and just PRICE CHECKING!!!

be careful with them, really!! They never called me when my line was put down so it was never monitored, besides that the cancelation process is still a nightmare with them.They are still charging even after the services are cut off. Manager called Paul (didnt want to give lastname) at Montreal is a total scam, he is a layer giving dates of installations that never happen and the cancellation proces has been the most awful experience I have had in all my life.They are also expensive, service is horrible in all senses.

Their technicians are so Rude and disrespectful. Their technician should not be in service. They don't know how to take care of their customer. They are annoying May because they make a lot of money these technician did not think the money they earned were come from customers. I have bad experienced with technician. Horrible service, horrible people. Horrible managers. They never call you back. They just take money out of your account when they aren’t suppose to. And instead of giving it back they issue a credit on your account which should be fraud. I’m set up to bill every three months but they keep continuing to take the money out monthly and they won’t give me my money back. They just keep issuing me credits. I can’t ever get a manager and I can’t ever get a manager to call me back. Worse part is I’m stuck in a contract for two years. Can’t wait to switch to a better company. Worst alarm system ever!!!!!

I had the worse customer service ever when I called last week,I didn't cancel my service at all been canceled by ADT The reason I called them last week that my ADT keypad was peeping for a month and keeps showing numbers and fire check I wasn't sure what was going on with it.,three of my fire alarm working with new batteries,and I called and hoped that someone can tell me what to do since I still have the ADT keypad and I was a client with the service since 2012,the technician she was very rude to me and she was very aggressive and disrespectful and she was rude saying I have no reason or right to call to ask why my ADT keypad peeping,I wanted to renew my service that ended in 2018 without my knowledge, since that aggressive response I won't at all, i had respected her and appreciate the service the call that I made to ADT brought my tears.

Please stay away from ADT. They are the worst. I had to move for work and I had called to ask for options and specifically mentioned not to cancel until I sell my house but without telling me and confirming with me they canceled and send it for collection. I had my buyer ready to pick up my rest of the contract but they wanted them to take another 3 years of contract instead of taking remaining on my contract. They played hard ball with me and I had to pay almost 1000 dollars. Absolutely worst customer service. I would highly recommend people to stay away from this company. Don’t sign any contract with them.

All the reps I spoke to stated the monitoring service was 27.99. The installer put up the keypad then tried to pitch me the service for $52.99 because I didn't have a landline. I no longer wanted the service and a hole is left in my wall. The installer claimed the company will patch the hole. Customer service ask for 3 estimates. I sent the estimates along with pictures. They have not got back to me. Their bait and switch is horrible. A major corporation leaving holes in the walls of people homes, they really should pay.

Terrible treatment by customer service. I feel like a victim. Promised 4 gift cards and may receive three for paying for something I should have not had to pay for. I feel like the crooks already came in my home and I have an alarm and feel robbed. Installers will convince and tell you misinformation and bullied. Awful

I do not recommend!!! They offer so many specials initially but once you sign the contract they charge your credit card for everything they said they were giving you without asking you or letting you know! When calling to resolve the issue they act like they don’t know what’s going on they promise to fix it but they never do. Cancelling was extremely difficult! Just a horrible experience with them.

I had a service visit scheduled for 7:00 AM on 5/7. Technician never showed up. I called and I was told the scheduled time was actually between 8AM-5PM. I told them that it was un acceptable when I have an Email stating 7:00-8:00 AM. Then I was told they could send a technician at 12:30 PM. I told them that I would be there at that time. At 11:55 AM I get a call saying there is a technician at my house. Unbelievable. I told them that could be there at 12:30 PM at the agreed upon time. The customer service person said ok. At 12:30 PM no one shows up. I called and they said no one would be coming and no other technician has the time to come out to my house. I asked to cancel my service. There are too many good security companies available now to have to deal with poor customer service. ADT used to have good customer service but it is definitely not a priority now. I've always paid my service up a year in advance and feel terrible that this is the way I was treated. I hope this helps someone that could be considering ADT as their security company.

The previous owners had ADT and I chose another company. So, I have to listen to a clicking noise the system makes all day until their cancellation date. They have long contracts and you get stuck in them - and sometimes other people like me get stuck! I have been listening to this noise for a month! I have to temporarily disarm the system every time it does it which customer service instructed me on. It does it at 4:30 a.m! Customer service is rude and confused about policies. I just want the system removed from my home. It is an older system with holes and wires going through my wall and they will not remove it. I shopped around and chose another alarm company. I would not recommend ADT to my enemy!

Do Not sign up with this company. First of all it is a automatic 3 year contract that you only have 3 days to decide if you would like their services. *They have several different distributors that you have to deal with. Making it difficult to resolve any complaints. I just spent 2 hours on the phone going back and forth with ADT and their distributor. Trying to resolve some billing issues. *The equipment is outrageously priced. They charge 70$ for a lighting product when you can purchase the same thing for 30$ at Staples. *I have had a couple active alarms and have not received a phone call yet. I suggest you invest in purchasing your own equipment to protect your home.

I just found out my phone line wasn’t even connected to my system. I found out just by coincidence. I called for something else but also asked if they can test my signals. The technician tells me I wasn’t connected. I was paying almost $50 for nothing for years.

ADT appears to view subscribing to their service as a lifetime commitment! It is easy to pay them, very difficult to stop the service. I found no way to cancel the service online, and was referred to a phone number. On the call, the ADT rep simply would NOT agree to cancel my service. I said "I no longer want this, I wish to stop paying" and the guy - clearly with instructions from the company - would change the subject. I finally stopped payment from my checking account, at which point ADT went to a collection agency. I have no paid them in full, but will NEVER work with them again. Choose another company. Corporations that do not treat their customers as individuals who may wish to purchase their services (or not) should not be rewarded with new customers.

Not only has the company been taking money out of our account, even after we asked for the services to be discontinued, they were taking double payments out of our bank account. This dates back as far as 2013. I have been calling them to have the money refunded but keep getting different answers, and whenever asked to verify my passcode, apparently there are two different ones. I am not sure how they can double bill the same customer by using the same address. I am still waiting for my money to be refunded. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The managers are always busy and can never take your call, and the CSR's have a different story/excuse whenever I call.

The only people robbing people is ADT. I have been charged 4 times in a week of having this service. I have half of my equipment and no one can give me an answer of when it will be in. I've called 4 times for canceling and have been put on hold for 40 plus minutes each time. Can't get a call back to save my life. Highly recommend anyone and everyone to avoid this rip off company.

I received a flier in the mail for a great deal for home security through ADT. They smooth talked me through the process of signing up by offering me a ton of freebies. I set up an appointment for a representative to visit my home to tell me about plan options and set up the system if I wanted to proceed. The next day the rep showed up and immediatly began installing a system in my home. I asked him to wait a second and asked about plan options. The rep started talking quickly about plans while he was removing my old key pad and installing a new one by the front door. I continued to say stop and he did not. He began telling me a story about his girlfriend and her kids. It was total manipulation and I fell for it. I ended up signing up for service and paid the $500 instillation fee that he told me about after installing the system. He also said the ADT would refund the $500 if I asked for one. The next day I tried to arm my home before I left for work and the system wouldn't arm because of a window sensor that was installed incorrectly. I called ADT and spoke to a rude representative that asked me why I would want to cancel my service if the system was installed, and why would I let someone into my home to install a system I did not want. She also laughed at me when I told her about the refund for the instillation fee. Then she informed me the only way to cancel service was to search through 8 emails sent to me and find the one with an attachment that said cancellation of contract. I only had three days to cancel it so I'd better hurry she said and laughed. Fortunately I jumped through all of the hoops a cancelled the service. Please beware of this scam.
