Those interested in the ADT mobile app or an outdoor/indoor camera, will need to pay more for the more comprehensive home security packages. The cost could end up being higher than other leading home security system providers. Specifically, their lowest plan is considerably higher than other industry-leading providers and their respective lower plans.

Undisclosed Information

Unlike other home security companies, like Protect America, ADT does not disclose how much added on equipment is. While you can see that the company offers three packages, it's difficult to see the distinctions and what equipment is offered in each package.

While cancelling service after 15 years they told me my siren would be disabled as a result. Now they are billing me for 30 days after the cancellation date and refise to remove the charge, even though their rep did not tell me there was an adfitional 30 days of service after the cancellation date.

They lied to me and debited my bank account b4 I signed any contract. I was told they would not debit my account u til I signed the contract. When I called them back they told me they would credit me back immediately but that was another lie.

This is all a lie.. I only had 30 days to cancel and I paid 56.00 dollars a month for a year and half with no camera and when i moved I was told I had to sign up for another 3 years or would have to pay the remaining balance. I am filing a complaint with the CFPB department.

This is ADT now 02/20/2020 - They charge about $2600 for the whole "highest-rated" system. From there, they subtract what they "give" you in $100 VISA cards + whatever credit they might give you based on YOUR CREDIT. So the rest is divided in 4 equal payments of up to $480+ PLUS the monthly fee which goes up to $59 per month. This amount won't go down by much no matter what you take from the "package" which is not clear what it contains. So as far as activation, they will charge you $100 over the phone to "secure" you into getting the sales rep into your house. So the $27/mo. is not a reality if you don't have "a land telephone line" which is what we were told. I feel this is a very shady way of luring people into buying and I find it utterly expensive, given the fact I live in a townhouse and it was considered "big" and "with a lot of windows" for their products.

My system stopped working after a year. I tried cancelling the service multiple times. I spent hours on the phone begging them to stop my service. I wasn't in a contract but they just kept billing me for 7 extra months when my alarm wasn't even working. Beyond frustrating. I am still trying to get my money back and they continue to give me the run around. Horrible experience!!!

I hate to admit that I am a Security Professional after being exposed to the lack of service from this high priced company. They were the only company I interviewed that could provide me with the protection I wanted. so I used them. Their pricing was not specific and high. I recently needed an additional remote control and paid for it and waited many days for the scheduled delivery and programming. On the morning of the install day I received a call stating they were unable to have a tech who could come out for the service, but would reschedule me 6 days later. After calling my salesman who, incidentally does not have a voice mail set up yet, I reached a supervisor who could only schedule me at the same later date. No apology or explanation as to why they are unable to properly service their customers

Please do yourself a favor and do not go anywhere near this company! I have seriously never experienced such horrible service in my entire life. Their products work (if you’re lucky enough to get them sufficiently installed) but the app is a joke, which they have zero tech assistance with and their customer service is truly repulsive! They legit told me I would have to obtain a tablet or second phone in order to troubleshoot why the app wouldn’t work on my iPhone 10. Once they get you into a contract, they truly don’t care at all about whether or not you’re a happy customer. This company is clearly run by bottom feeders. Thieves that train their staff to be equally inhuman. The epitome of horrible customer service. Once my contract is up, I will never have anything to do with this joke of a company again.

Horrible, disgusting, unthethical, unknowledgeable. 3 days, 19 hours of clueless people multiple incidents promises, no shows two cameras 1st broken, no knowledge on their software appication, Alarm.com no knowledge on how camera or clips worked 2.5 months to get install and 3 days later still escalating for the 7th time with no returned calls from managers or executives can't dispatch at night it costs them too much and now camera is down and out let alone stream or take clips that had gaps, pauses missed clips or didn't record at all. No continuity, techs gave up, we don't get training, Levels 1 and 2 Dispatch and tech support have no clue. ***WARNING***STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM ADT AS POSSIBLE. HORENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE IN FACT NONE AND NO KNOWLEDGE ON WHAT THEY SELL OR HOW IT WORKS OR THEIR SUPPORTING SOFTWARE THEY USE FROM A THIRD PARTY COMPANY IN THE US THAT THEY CAN"T CONTACT, ALARM.COM - WARNING DO NOT BUY, LEASE or SIGN.

Just making the initial call to inquire about the systems is disconcerting. I couldn't inquire because they are robotic about making an appointment to get their man in our home BEFORE we determine if we want what they have to offer. I was asked questions about the physical features in my home. I wasn't comfortable with the pressure being put on me to make an appointment, mostly because that isn't why I called. And, they don't listen or answer questions - that's for their "tech" in my home, who "isn't a salesman", "it's a technician". I asked the supervisors name and thanked him and had to hang up. Best not to call unless you want an at-the-door sales person on your couch.

We had our system installed yesterday and decided after receiving disinformation about cameras and fees, that we did not want the system. ADT was not willing to cancel as was promised but told me I had to contact the installer myself (Defender). Defender did not answer while their automated system kept me on hold. I called back ADT and told them I would contact the Attorney General of Indiana if they did not cancel for me. I am currently waiting to see if they take care of this. There are no written packages telling you prices and what you receive. Very high pressure sales by installer. My wife said she wanted a few days to think about it and he said he would drive around the block or sit in the driveway while we discussed it. I felt very backed into a corner and will not do business with them again.

Over month ago I called them to come and check my system because system is periodically beeping and different numbers shows up on the screen pad. They said batteries are drained and I should replace them in a different sensors. I declined because I don’t know how to. I an 67 and not a technician. I open a ticket long time ago but nobody responded ever. I don’t know what to do and system is drive us crazy. Worst service you can imagine. Don’t sign with ADT!!! I am looking for different company but in my rural area is very difficult to find any

My 93 year old mother had been a customer of ADT for over 25 years. She lost her sight in Oct of 2018 and we asked ADT to install a "voice activation" in her existing system. They did so and it was very helpful. My mom passed in July of 12th 2019 and we called them on July 15th to remove the voice activation so family members could activate and deactivate the system. The representative said I had to sign a document to get a technician out since my mom had passed. He sent it to my iphone and told me to initial it and he would send a technician out. We cleared out her house and in mid October decided we no longer needed an alarm system. I contacted ADT to cancel my mom's account and was told I had signed a new 3 year contract and was going to cost $1,154 to cancel it. I've tried multiple times to get an account manager to rectify this since we were obviously taken advantage of during our time of grief. They don't care and I would never do business with them and tell everyone to stay away from them. They are thieves and won't get another penny from our family. Shame on you!!!!

Had them out for a " consultation". After giving us a quote for 7 grand we said no thanks. The sales rep magically was able to start dropping thousands off the original quote. After much back and forth me and wife agreed we would like to talk things over before we spend thousands of dollars. At that point we were told we could not do that and if we didnt take the deal today all the discounts would be gone. I said ok thats bad business and i dont want any part of it. He continued to haggle us until i told him to leave. He said he had to call his boss to close the account at that time. The boss..Chris...was a complete jerk who we could hear on the phone degrading us for not accepting there offer. Stay away from these people unless you are prepared to spend thousands on the spot.

Terrible company. Lots of hidden fees and costs they do not tell you about. I wanted cameras but was told I need internet so I ordered internet. Now they are telling me they want a $299 activation fee for cameras. Such bs. I would look for someone else. Now I cant even cancel my contract. It has to be canceled within 3 days of installation which Im sure on the phone they told me 7 days and online it says 6 months.

Worst home security service provider. When I get ADT service, they don't tell me it is a 3-year contract. I finally step out of this contract by paying the penalty of 75% of the contract. BE ALERT!! Stay away from ADT. Worst company ever!

Recently got adt installed in my house.covered all entry points in the house with sensor. ADT preached about there ADT pulse can be remotely logged in @ logged out to arm & disarm the house that was the only reason I went with ADT. There ADT pulse is down & they don’t know when it up running again. Customer service people got zero knowledge & there supervisor don’t know how talk to customers. I wanted to know time frame when ADT pulse will up running from app. They can’t anwer that plus they never informed there customers that ADT pulse is down how stupid of them.

Worst system ever do NOT invest in this system, it never works every week something breaks down on it you spend your life calling them to come and fix it. The last time we called just a week ago the panel board was not working again call them up to get them to fix it and was told ok we can fix it oh but wait you get to pay 35.00 for us to fix it, let’s see it’s your equipment that never works and I get charged to get YOUR equipment fix, oh and if you ever add more cameras they will extend your contract for a longer time. You will spend most of the time on the phone setting appt to get it fix. Counting the days tell the contract is up and we can move on, anything has to be better than this crap. Oh and if ya wanna update the system from the old school system they put in it will cost you $1.000 after the fact you have dumbed allot of money to get it in the first place because the cameras are not compatible to the new system.... , our home is only 1 year and two months old that’s how old school there system is.. Do not do this system, every day you will ask yourself”WHY”.....

Cancellation when PCS'g only applies to Soldiers, NOT federal employees. There are companies out there that will allow you out of your contract if the Army tells you to move, civilian or soldier. Shop around.

The worst scam company to deal with...run from them and don't give them a little chance... you don't have any paperwork when they come and see you... sign this on there note pad that they come and install it... you have a contract for year that's what I got told and after one year I decided to cancel it they told me it's for 3 years... surprised the crap out of me... harassment received for a year...were I told them to stop calling me...the biggest scam company I ever dealt with...STAY AWAY FROM THEM IF YOU DON'T WANT PROBLEMS!!!

I am now thinking about getting rid of my camera and try someone's else. The Customer service is poor and their lack of knowledge about their own equipment is embarrassing. I was hung up three times and after saying I would considering upgrading with more information the person didn't send me the INFORMATION. I WAITING ONE HOUR WAITING BEFORE ANYONE TLANSWER TELEPHONE. I HAVE BEING HUSBAND FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS. I NOW FEEL UNIMPORTANT.

I just ended my relationship with adt. Terrible outfit. The new company found that 4 doors and two backs of windows were not monitored . I had been with adt since around 1994. I had a service plan incorporated into my quarterly monitoring fee. I had a problem with a door and was told that the wire must have broken off in the wall and I would have to go to a hybrid system. During the past few years I fou;nd that if the main battery was no good there was a charge for it. -Adt keept changing the terms of the agreement so I switched to a new co. I would not recommend adt to anyone

since adt purchased protection 1 .IT'S BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I was with Protection 1 over 30 years. ADT has rude people. They had to replace equipment since my alarm kept going off. After they replaced equipment. ADT would NOT take care of the false alarm $96.00. I had to either (take my time to go to a 8 hr course or pay $96.00)….Sure they say they will reimburse, NOT been taken care of yet. DON'T waste your time find a new Co. BTW I'm retired 26 years in Correction. Their response time is hrs NOT minutes.... Be ware do your homework.

When the product stops working (which will happen frequently), be ready for an absolute nightmare when it comes time to deal with their useless customer service department, right up there with Comcast. They will lie and tell you what you want to hear on the phone and not follow through with anything, then hit you with phrases like “I don’t see it in the notes,” or “we don’t have record that you contacted us.” DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!

I am a Adt customer and I have been trying to add onto my system and I get told one thing and then the day before the tec comes out it’s a different deal and on the date of 12/31/2019 a tec came out he was rude and wanted to argue with me and I head enough and told him to leave and it’s been a lie every sence that day I been repeatedly lied to and I would never recommend Adt to anyone and as soon as my contract is up I’m done with Adt

The price on install not only turned out to be higher than expected, but it hasn't worked properly since. I have had problems from the get go and my cameras have been "undetected" on my system since August. Even with the phone "tech support" the cameras keep getting booted out of my system. After 2 months of paying for a service that wasnt working properly and getting no actual help from the company, I stopped paying and have been of course recieving notices from them to pay the account. I've again been on the phone and emailing ADT and Safe Haven (the local dealer that installed the units) and have recieved no help. They want to not only charge me for the months the system wasn't working, but also charge for a technician to come out and fix their faulty equipment. Needless to say, they are not getting paid and can come pick up this junk at their own expense.

Not good, not good at all. They never told me that I had three days, they said I had 6 months. The contract was for 3 years, i was told i could cancel in 6 months. Now they said it will cost me over $700+ to cancel. They can rarely be reached unless you hang on for 20-30 minutes. Most are franchises, which takes away from the callibur and respect they once had. I am furious. They lied, flat out lied. Do not trust.

I inquired ADT system and when I found out that they have to run a hard inquiry on my credit? I refused then suddenly a floor manager grabbed the phone from agent that I am communicating with and he started asking why I don’t want to run a credit check? It is pretty much common sense that everyone know what hard inquiries on your credit. I said that I will think about it and will get back to them and he keeps talking and sounds like forcing me to do so! He said that he will not send any Technician to my house if I will not AGREE to run the credit check! Unbelievable! What kind of Manager is that!! And he started saying I am married too and a husband and I will definitely do ! Well look !Everyone thinks differently! You need to demote your position as a floor manager! You work as a customer Service and you should know the description of your job! BTW the agent name is Alex and this is the number I called 855-3800044. Manager is very UNPROFESSIONAL!!

We had ADT for about 9 months after having been misled by their ad and signed their 3-year contract. We ended up paying $400 in installation fees and $40 / month without monitoring. We don’t trust the system or installation and fear that it would fail and call police while we are not home. We had several problems with the system, and had phone exchange to try to solve them before the tech came in. Zones’ naming wrong, layouts confusing. Equipment beeped for battery problems shortly after installation, is beeping again now at another location that we cannot find due to wrong naming of zones. We tried phone help but due to confusions, we tried to open another piece of equipment instead of the one signaling as troubling. As a result, now we have 2 areas of trouble needing help. We are paying for insurance to get tech help coverage, and are told it will be a $25 for the visit. ADT said that without insurance the visit would be about $200 (or in the range). Trying to schedule the tech we were given a window of 12 PM to 5 PM, which meant a day lost at work resulting in a lot more money than the $25 tech visit. In the end we scheduled a tech in the morning with a window of 8 AM to 12 PM out of desperation. System beeps regularly about trouble zone and has to be handled every few hours to quiet it til help gets here..:🤯
