Brinks is one of the most widely recognized brands in the home security industry and is known for its dedication to security and protection. Brinks Home Security currently has more than 1 million subscribers, making it one of the largest home security companies in the United States. Brinks strives to provide simple, affordable, personalized, reliable home security that its clients can be confident in. The company also aims to offer great service and treat every customer like family.

Professional or DIY Installation

Brinks Home Security claims that installing its home security systems is very easy. According to the company, "if you can hang a picture on the wall, you can set up any of [its] systems". Each system component comes with extra-strength adhesive strips to make placement quick and simple. Using tools is not necessary; however, customers can use screws to secure motion sensors or panels if they'd like.

With Nest Secure systems from Brinks, the Nest App will guide the customer through installation and setup step by step. After that, the company will contact the customer to activate monitoring.

With Home Complete home security systems from Brinks, a technician will guide the customer through the process over the phone and then test the system remotely to ensure the system is set up correctly.

For customers who'd prefer not to install their own system, Brinks can put them in contact with a trained professional who can install their home security system.

30-Day Risk-Free Trial

Brinks allows customers to try out one of its home security systems at no risk for 30 days. If the customer chooses to cancel their service within the first 30 days, they'll receive a full refund with no termination fee.

Options for Arming and Disarming the System

Each Brinks home security system provides customers with multiple ways to arm and disarm their system. With Brinks' Nest Secure system, customers can arm and disarm their security system using the unique Nest Tag, a passcode, or the Nest app. With Brinks' Home Complete system, customers can arm and disarm their system using a passcode, the Brinks Home Security app, Bluetooth hands-free disarming, or an optional keychain remote.

Patented Alert System

When a customer activates monitoring with Brinks Home Security, they will create a list of emergency contacts. However, customers do have the ability to update their list at any time. In the event of an alarm, Brinks' Alarm Response Center will begin contacting the individuals on the list.

Customers will receive notifications through the Brinks mobile app, but they will also have access to ASAPer, Brinks' patented alert system that connects as many emergency contacts as they want. When an alarm goes off, customers and their emergency contacts will automatically receive their choice of voice calls, texts, and/or email notifications from Brinks Home Security while the company works on their behalf to contact help if it's needed. Customers can also quickly declare a false alarm if necessary.

Emergency contacts can also participate in ASAPer's group chat, which lets them send each other private messages when an alarm occurs to make sure it's resolved as it should be.

2-Year Product Warranty

The hardware on each Brinks home security system is covered by a 2-year limited warranty. In the event that anything breaks during the first two years, Brinks will replace it.

Wireless Monitoring Only

Currently, Brinks only offers wireless monitoring for its home security systems, which means that landline and cellular monitoring are not available. Although there are a lack of monitoring options to choose from, wireless systems are simple to install, easy to move to a different location, and very secure.

Our Recommendation

Brinks Home Security is a solid option for customers who are interested in a simple-to-install, wireless DIY home security system. The company offers various package options and is upfront about its pricing. With a 30-day money back guarantee and a 2-year warranty on equipment, customers can be confident in the performance of their system. Additionally, with a patented alert system and multiple options for arming and disarming the system, customers can rest assured that their home is safe and secure.

Horrible company! I originally called to cancel my contract and I spoke to two different reps and both of them said that they could not help me and were directing me elsewhere but I stayed on hold for a whole 45 minutes and when I eventually got in touch with someone, they said i had to pay almost $900 to get out of contract! Misleading fees that they don't tell you about and just an overall horrible company. I would recommend anywhere else but this company!!

Very poor service and very poor accounting dept., they are very slow at adding your payments to your account.

Brinks is one of the most unethical companies I have ever dealt with. I have been a paying customer of Brinks (and its predecessor) for five years. In those five years, I have never missed or been late with a payment. Last month, they added some vague $11.00 "permit fee" to my account. Brinks never bothered to send me an invoice - whether regular mail or electronically. The first I found out about this charge was when I received a collections call two days ago from Brinks telling me me I now owe them $17. Yes, that is a 60% late fee! They called me SIX TIMES yesterday, and SIX TIMES today. This is the way they treat a loyal, on-time paying customer of the past five years. I will be cancelling their service, for I do not appreciate being treated like a common criminal for a measly $11.00. Do yourselves a favor, STAY AWAY FROM BRINKS!!!!!!!
