Smart Home Automation

In addition to some impressive alarm features, Vector Security also provides automated devices that can be controlled by a mobile app. A customer can monitor and control lighting, appliances, locks, and security cameras. Vector Security’s CloudControl feature allows each customer to save recorded security camera footage to a cloud account. Other home security companies may require a customer to save videos to a personal computer, or another location with much more limited memory.
Vector Security integrates with the Amazon Echo, so people can use voice control to secure their home (lock doors, turn on cameras, and turn the alarm on and off).

False Alarm Protocol

Vector Security has a nationally recognized 12-point false alarm reduction protocol. Their equipment is able to pick up on non-emergency situations, such as delayed password verification. This helps cut back on the number of false alarms home security owners see.

No Upfront Costs; Professional Installation Service

There are no upfront costs with Vectory Security – that includes equipment fees and installation. Those who sign up with other home security companies often pay $99 or more for installation. And those who choose to buy their system outright can potentially spend thousands of dollars getting their system set up. All of these services are professionally installed and monitored.

Cancellation Policy

As previously mentioned, a common theme in our Vector Security reviews is that the alarm policy is very difficult and expensive to cancel. Vector Security requires customers to sign up for a 36-month service contract, while other companies provide much shorter contract or no contract at all. And if a customer desires to cancel their alarm services before the contract expires, they will be required to pay 100% of the remaining balance, which could potentially cost hundreds of dollars. Other companies only require 20% to 80% of the balance.

High Monthly Cost

Monthly, Vector Security charges $39.95 for “Basic Security”. This basic system includes:

  • Professional installation and monitoring
  • 3 door/window sensors
  • 1 motion detector
  • Wireless control panel / monitoring center

The company has three home security packages available: Basic Security, Home Automation, and Connected Home. Costs of the home automation packages (Home Automation and Connected Home) are undisclosed on the company’s website. Many companies charge less than $39.95 for their most basic home security system.
Customers interested in an indoor camera and door lock will need to purchase the Connected Home package from Vector Security. There is also an option to pay an additional $10 a month for cameras and door locks in the Home Automation package. Both can be monitored from the phone with the Vectory Security app.

Limited Locations

Vector home security is only available in the Eastern regions of the United States. The following states are included in Vector Security’s service area: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Vector is one of the few home security / home automation companies with no up-front costs plus a professional installation service. However, for those interested solely in a home security service, they will be able to find monthly monitoring services at lower than what Vector Security offers. Because the company’s basic alarm package is so expensive, we can only assume that their home automation packages are sold at equally high costs.     I would not recommend this company their customer service is awful. I have had trouble trying to get my equipment up and running because of having to have my modem replaced. As soon as my contract is over with them, it is goodbye. I was with ADT for 23 three years and never experience this lack of service. By the way, I just had the system installed in June of this year (2019)

    Don’t do it. We bought a house with this in there and because we didn’t buy the code it was optional for them to help. After the alarm going off multiple times and causing mental distress to my dog, I finally figured out how to pull the wire to the actual alarm in the house. If you have a similar issue, go to the actual alarm and disconnect the wire.

    Any company with that type of customer service to a prospective payer should make you think twice before doing any business with them. Its just shameful that a company would operate that way.

    I currently have vector security systemi call because I recently changed my wifi service and my door bell and outside cameras weren’t showing any video so I call to have someone come out to service the video. They told my I would have to pay $85.00 for the service call which I think is I shouldn’t have to pay I’ve had this security company less than a year. I always have problems with the video on this system I would not recommend vector to anyone .😡

    Vector took over our previous provider, who had retired after decades of excellent service.
    After a couple of years of inadequate service from Vector, we switched to another security company, and sent in the Vector cancellation form. However, Vector still billing us two months later. Their billing department is really bad. Even worse than their service department!

    First of all, you have to sign up for a minimum 3 year plan for service. I thought this would be fine because I thought I was signing up to work with a team of competent professional. BOY WAS I WRONG. The first year was fine, but the sensor on my front door stopped working due to swelling/shrinking of the door from temperature changes. It took them SIX MONTHS to get out to fix it, so in the meantime I couldn’t arm my house. Why even bother having a security system if you can’t arm your house at night or when you’re away? Then I got a new debit card and called them to update the card. The woman I talked to had to be the dumbest human I’ve ever had to deal with. She confirmed everything was set up for auto draft from my new card until 60 days later when I get a call from the same person saying my account was 60 days passed due. She also proceeded to tell me it was my fault for not verifying that they had saved the card? DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. Literally getting a guard dog is more effective and better for your blood pressure than dealing with this group of absolute idiots.

    They got my billing wrong from the beginning I suppose to 06/14 they take my money every 06 on the month and refused to acknowledge it. Their customer service representatives are rude, intolerant and refuse to listen when you call. They don’t care why you are calling they don’t want to be bothered. When you call to cancel they start making things up and cannot even get their story straight. Don’t sign with them, it is a waste of your time and money.I have attempted to contact service numerous times. Once on hold for 40 minutes, , all the while enjoying the overlapping messages that say “you value my time”, and “appreciate my patience”? Both time I left my mobile number only to have your service contact me.Do I continue to pay them each month with out service?
    This company is horrible. Do you still pay when your dead?

    My family has been with Vector for quite some time. We carried the basic package for many years but when they raised my monthly rate I decided to investigate getting cameras, door bell and an updated keyboard. I compared Vector with 2 other competitors ( ADT, American Home Security) and eventually decided to stay with Vector.

    I am now regretting that decision.

    #1 this system was installed July 11th and to date I still do not have my door bell that was part of the contract. I have contacted my Sales Associate for assistance but to no avail.

    #2 my Driveway camera has been out for almost 2 weeks. I have attempted to contact service numerous times. Once on hold for 18 minutes, my drive to my business, all the while enjoying the overlapping messages that say “you value my time”, and “appreciate my patience”? Both time I left my mobile number only to have your service contact my wife. My wife is a teacher and can not take calls through the day. I left that information on later voice messages only to have her called again? The one time you did call me I was in a meeting and missed the call but I left the meeting to call back immediately only to have to leave another message.

    I should have gone with ADT. The price was slightly higher but maybe their after the sale approach was better. God know, it could not be much based on how your company has set the bar.

    We still have Vector for about another year but unwillingly. It would still cost around 1,000 to cancel right now.

    We have had multiple issues of the product not functioning right. We continuously get charged twice (2 different deductions in a month) and just recently had the service tech come out after waiting a month. It worked for a little bit and went right back to not working properly once he came. We are back I. The same boat waiting for a tech.

    They require a 3 year contract as well so, this is what you’re stuck with.

    It’s “no cost” up front but you definitely pay for it and then some by the time your 3 years is up.

    There are lots of options out there, don’t get stuck with Vector Secuity.

    Vector locks you into a contract with automatic renewal and no ability to cancel (you pay 100% of the balance). Then they instituted a price increase! Which they can’t do under their own contract (they can only do this at a renewal time when you have a right to cancel–but you have to catch the contract 30 days before the auto-renewal, and use the correct forms to cancel). So they were forcing a mandatory price increase, with no opportunity to cancel. I called “customer service” and their excuse was that they were doing this to all of their customers, so it was OK! I tried to cancel, but they refused to let me, but I got the price increase waived. I can’t wait until my cancellation period (I’ve already got the forms), when I will cancel and put in a much better DIY system and save almost $40/month on fees.

    Poor equipment breaks within months and they’ll charge for fixing unless you buy insurance (extra). Long contracts (5 year), beware – you can’t get out of them. Con job.

    I’m very upset as their system failed due to lightening strike and they did not detect this when it occurred. They want me to pay for a new system. And I thought My.contract expired because the salesman said it was 3 years. They won’t cancel as I signed a 5 year contract.
    Do I continue to pay them each month with out service?
    This company is horrible. Im 80 yrs old. Do you still pay when your dead?
    I was so upset I hung up before I said something awful.to them.

    They won’t answer the phone. Keep getting recording they’ll be with you but I went through 2 batteries on my phones for 1 hour. No response. Called 4 times. Trying to cancel.

    Would not recommend this company, I tried to cancel and they are still taking money out of my account, “Finally” today, they received my electronic signature cancellation page through email, I have been with Vector for several years, I believe over 10, as soon as I wanted to cancel, Even though no contract, They said I needed to send a signed cancellation through the mail. So I did and they said they never received it and was trying to contact me at my home number, which was disconnected because I had moved, I gave them all the information they needed when I was on the phone with them, but it wasn’t enough, Now they won’t refund any of the several months I have paid in

    If you sign with Vector Securty be CERTAIN to check their cancellation policy. They are quick to install, but they give you a fit and a big runaround to cancel their service, even if you sale your house and move, they will keep right on charging or a large cancellation fee because they say you have to pay for 5 years no matter what!!!!!!

    They were quick j to install the service; however, getting them to ca c,ancel the service after we sold the house and moved was yet a nother matter. We made several calls to the local office and to the district office. But were told they could not cancel the service. We were told to call the home office for cancellation of service. We made that call, since the home was sold and we moved in early April. At that time we paid what we thought was the final bill and yet once again, we were given the runaround on the cancellation We were told they could not cancel the service unless it was on writing only. We sent the letter and they claimed they did not get the letter until April 29th and billed us for yet another month’s unwanted and certainly unneeded service. Just another way to charge more money by giving us the runaround instead of simply disconnecting service as asked on numerous times!!!

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are a bit pricey for the services they provide. Be sure to SHOP AROUND! Also, when it’s time to cancel, you better PUT THE DATE DOWN somewhere even if it’s 3 years later. They will automatically renew your contract without a reminder of any sort. (A reminder would actually be BENEFICIAL when it comes to contracts; email + mail). Now I’m stuck for another year paying too much for security. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Stick with your local company and not these money thirsty vampires.
