    Horrible company. System has not worked since July 21. 2017 yet after several request to fix it still does not function. Calls to cancel either don't get returned or when you reach someone are useless.today I was informed they extended my contract another year even though it does not function. Looks to be a court case soon!Read More

    Absolutely hands down the worst security company I have ever dealt with. The customer service staff is so unprofessional and rude. I really believe the devices are just props. My doorbell camera will send 75+ notifications for one incident ie. motion or ring. The customer service( if that's what you want to call them) says to me "so you don't want to receive notifications on your phone?" Ummm... I would love to receive notifications just not 75 of them for one ring or motion. Driveway camera does not pick up motion. As a matter of fact someone broke into my husbands truck and when we checked the cameras, it showed nothing. Poor equipment, poor monitoring and poor customer service. Do yourself a favor and don't go with them.Read More

Vector Security provides regional and national security monitoring services to both individual and business clients through the use of landline and cellular monitoring systems. These systems ensure that service is never lost due to technical issues with phone lines or the power grid. This company has also been recognized nationally for its false alarms protocols which greatly reduce expense for homeowners and authorities alike. Furthermore, the company offers extensive educational resources through their online site to assist customers with a wide variety of security issues and technical questions.

In addition to some impressive home security features, Vector Security also provides automated devices that can be controlled by a mobile app. Customers can monitor and control lighting, appliances, locks, and cameras. Vector Security’s CloudControl feature allows customers to save recorded security camera footage to a cloud account. Other home security companies may require you to save videos to a personal computer, or another location with much more limited memory. And as Vector Security provides professional installation, the fact that it charges zero upfront or installation costs is noteworthy.

Vector Security features a number of actual user reviews on its website through a third-party service called Trustpilot. While a majority of the reviews are quite positive, Vector Security also features some negative user reviews as well. While we cannot necessarily confirm the authenticity of these reviews or the relationship between Vector Security and Trustpilot, this effort to promote honest user reviews at least demonstrates Vector Security’s recognition of the importance of online reviews.

Vector Security’s monthly monitoring fee is much more expensive than other home security companies, and its starting package costs nearly twice as much as that of our top company. Vector Security requires customers to sign up for a 36-month contract, while other companies provide much shorter contracts or no contracts at all. And if customers desire to cancel their services before the contract expires, they will be required to pay 100% of the remaining balance, which could potentially cost hundreds of dollars. Other companies only require 20% to 80% of the balance. Vector Security has licenses in only 32 states, while top home security companies boast a nationwide presence.

Vector Security consistently has problems with customer service. These problems stem from personal accounts and not from the business or national accounts. As such, it would appear that the company is far more concerned with major accounts than with the individual customer.

The Bottom Line

Customers should be comfortable trusting their home security needs to Vector Security. The company keeps to industry standards in terms of equipment, home automation capability, and monitoring options. And the fact that Vector is promoting both positive and negative reviews on its website is a solid attempt at online transparency, which few home security companies truly achieve. Unfortunately, Vector security is also considerably more expensive than other home security companies, and the number and variety of customer complaints suggest that customers may not receive the attention or responsiveness they need. Customers are strongly encouraged to investigate other home security companies with better customer service before making a final decision.

    I have had nothing but issues with this company. Last month they charged my bank 2 payments when I just made a payment a week before. They did credit me back the extra payment they took, but now they are saying I owe 2 more payments when only 1 payment is due. I tried calling the billing department to speak to someone and 30 minutes later and being transferred to a voicemail nothing has been resolved. I would not recommend this company to anyone. If you need any customer service assistance, plan on being on hold for at least 20 minutes before speaking to someone. Will be canceling my services ASAP!

    I’ve had my system for over a year. We never use it. It is always in error mode. I’ve had them out 3x which takes begging and threatening and am always charged. Then after a week the system does not work. Horrible to deal with. Avoid them go with anyone ekse

    I have been a Vector customer for 19 years, I haven’t had any major problems with my service. However, I changed my telephone provider from Verizon to AT&T which resulted in my home security being interrupted since the Verizon hard-line was discontinued. I contacted Vector Customer Service to request that my alarm be changed to a wire-less service, since AT&T doesn’t offer a hard-line. I spoke with Erika a Vector Security customer service manager who was able to arrange the change I needed. I was very impressed with Erika’s professionalism and her knowledge concerning how to resolve my problem.

    At first, when we had a local office the service was outstanding. The local company parted ways with Vector Corporate, and service got awful. When we would go on vacation, (like Europe) I called and left the person watching the houses number, instead, when the alarm went off I received a call in Greece, three days after the alarm. (I had my phone off). This happens often.
    The alarm goes off and it could be hours or days, or never before we receive a call to make sure everything is alright.
    When we had alarms going off constantly, the best they could offer in a way of turned the sound down until a tech could come 2 hours way two days later. sensors stopped working properly and a tech would come out a day or two later say it was fixed or nothing was wrong with it, and within hours it would act up again.
    When we tried to cancel last year, “We just missed the cut-off” so we could still cancel but would have to pay a penalty (equal an entire year of (non) service.
    A few months ago we paid off the remaining months, sent in a cancelation letter, (I even called to verify it arrived along with a certified receipt from USPS).
    A few days ago I called to verify stop date and was told, yes they received my payments but had no letter on file (again). 2 1/2 hours five people and all I got was “we don’t know when service stops” and send us a cancelation letter.

    Just avoid this company, bad news.

    I got Vector Security service so nobody would steal from me, but Vector ended up being the ones who stole from me.

    The service was okay. Never really got to see how well it worked, because we never had incident in which it was needed.

    Long story short we fell on hard times and started budgeting. So unfortunately the security service needed to be cut.

    I explained my situation to Vector and they allowed me to cancel, however a few weeks later I get a bill from Vector for the remainder balance. When I called to ask why they billed me after I cancelled they explained that I signed a one year contract and I was liable for that amount and if I didn’t pay it would go to collections.

    I asked if I paid the remaining balance would I still have service and they said “no”… So I asked the lady on the phone, “what sense does it make to pay for a service that I’m not going to get to use?” She didn’t answer the question, but reminded me of the contract terms. ..

    In the end I suppose it’s my fault for not reading the contract thoroughly but what terrible business practices. I had to pay them for the remainder of the year and I have no service.

    I get that it’s in the contract I signed five years ago, but requiring a 30-day notice to cancel service which only requires the flip of a switch or a few strokes on a keyboard? That’s pretty ridiculous. Enjoy my last $50 Vector for which I am getting nothing in return.

    I have been with Vector since 2003.. I have not had a lot of problems with the security system itself or with customer service .. it is a little steep for the monitoring price but feel safe. But I have an issue now with battery and customer service tells me no one can come out until Monday afternoon. I do think that is a bit long but maybe they can’t keeps service people and they just don’t have anyone available. I did mention the time frame to service rep and he didn’t seem concerned just agervated with me. Now I could say I believe my money for monitoring probably helps pay your pay check you get every week. 2003 -2018 now I consider that long enough to be a good customer and would expect a better time frame to get it fixed ..to repay me for being customer all these years.. so to the customer service guy .. you will get old one day .. maybe someone will talk to you like you did me!!

    If you think Verizon is bad you have never used Vector. They are the absolutely the most vile of Customer Service people I have ever come across. If it were not for the fact that it would cost me time and money to switch over to another system I would have told them to golly a kite 20 cars ago. They are MISERABLE. Never ever respond to messages. When one is next in line before your turn comes the phone disconnects and you have to start all over again. I have been trying to get three for the past 5 hours and still trying. Revolting.

    Terrible customer service. I purchased two flood/water detectors from them as a part of our “security package” for our crawlspaces (including the maintenance package which is extra every month), that have been malfunctioning for months. The first vector technician that was sent to the house did not have any replacement sensors in his truck (although I clearly explained this was the reason I was requesting them to come), and the second vector technician that came only brought one sensor that was malfunctioning and could not be installed (although the sales representative David A. assured me before the second visit that the technician would come with two working detectors). Don’t use this company – either go with ADT or build your own system (I have Arlo cameras that work well – in the long run including the obligatory 3 year contract with vector they will be cheaper).

    Update (7/5/2018): a Vector technician again came to our house (visit #3), and again did not bring working water detectors. After spending the day playing the with detectors in the house, he believed it was a “compatibility issue”, and said he (or another representative) would need to come back again. Our Vector representative David A. told me that he would connect me with “management” two weeks ago and I have not heard a thing from them, nor has David A. responded to any of my subsequent emails to him.

    I am a military customer and recently had to move to another state. I am renting out my old house. Vector Security does not service my new location so I cannot transfer service and they will not let me cancel because I am not selling my old house. I tried to speak with supervisors trying to get the rest of my contract forgiven due to the circumstances but they stick to their military clause and have no compassion even though I have been a customer with them for 5 to 6 years. I don’t like this solution but I can see where they are coming from. What i cannot understand is when i call a manager in the customer service department named Steve Hammer and he does not have the professionalism to call me back after 5 voicemails in over a month timeframe. A loyal customer tries to call you and you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to call them back and tell them bad news yourself? So now I have to pay the 50 dollars a month for three years until I return even though the system is not being used. Thanks Vector Security. Keep up the great work

    Purchased a home. I was verbally told I was picking up an existing contract. In reality, the clock started over on a new 36 month contract. After living in the home two years, I was hit with a $433 buyout on the way out the door. Stay away! Personally, I think a need for a 36 month contract is a red flag. If the product and service are great, such contracts are not needed. I cannot recommend Vector.

    We called well ahead of time to cancel our contract with Vector and told them verbally we wanted to terminate services at the end of our contract and as soon as possible. They canceled services ASAP and billed for services that they considered “buying out the contract.” We did not wish to terminate before the end of our contract but they are so difficult to end contracts with that at this point we are just going to be happy to be Vector Free. However, the representative that helped us, though unable to resolve the situation to our satisfaction, was nice.

    You get what to pay for and Vector has the best of everything in Security.
    If you are only interested in what cost the least, then you will get the least;.
    Vector has great personal service and security is worth the price for you, your family and business.
