Alarm.com is more than a home security company. They sell almost any smart home technology a tech-lover could want. With intelligent learning, Alarm.com’s equipment learns the patterns of day-to-day life, and are able to recognize inconsistencies in the home. Products they offer include:

  • Interactive Home Security System. Their home security system is professionally monitored 24/7. It’s also crash-proof, gives extreme weather alerts, and has a two-way voice system. The system uses a cellular connection.
  • Property Access. Customers can use an app to open and shut their garage door and lock the doors to their home.
  • Video Monitoring. Alarm.com has indoor and outdoor cameras, doorbell cameras, and video analytics. Owners can stream or playback recorded video within their app.
  • Wellness. Both seniors and families can benefit from the company’s wellness plan (similar to a medical alert device).
  • Energy Management. Control smart thermostats and lights to help save energy.

    This company has come to my house numerous times to sell me a system and even though I keep telling them that I already have one, they keep coming. Cassie came today and actually tried my door handle after I purposely did not answer the door. How creepy! They are scammers.

    Alarm.com STINKS! They keep changing the web settings, thus causing my system not to work right! I sent the A/C schedule. It is at 82 when I am at work. They did something to the interface, and my air went to 74 while I was at work! This cost me money. Anytime I create a work order, they close it , with NO action! When I complain, they point the finger at the local provider. EVERY Season , I have to reset everything because they mess it up! The keep chaining the GUI, and they don’t tell us! We are left to figure it out! There is NO Flow to their new interface! THEY STINK!! I wish there was another way to do this and bypass these idiots!

    GARBAGE! The system glitches and changes our security system settings without any notification or warning so false alarms occur. Alarm.com has no idea why the glitches happen. I was told that they wouldn’t investigate why this happens because it is localized to my issue and I’m not a big enough deal. GARBAGE!!!

    The way this product was pitched, wow totally my bad for not having a list of questions up front but this turns out to be a 5 YEAR agreement, not 1. The product was installed and seemed ok, we had to have door bell camera replaced with in months. Not even 9 months into this ordeal and almost every sensor seems to have gone bad in that EVERY DAY it reports that the windows are being tampered with, or that my door is open and EVERY time its false. It is such a nuisance that even should we really need it, I doubt it will perform. Getting in touch with someone to answer questions or explain things–like pulling teeth. I emailed again hoping to get an answer in writing but no holding my breath.

    Very poor service. On 3 different occassion, there has been damage and/or theft to my property in my driveway- directly in view of their “motion sensitive” cameras. On neither occassion was there footage recorded. I and my wife had both lost time from work to accommodate the many technicians that have come and gone. They were never able to fix the camera issues but still refused to release us from our contract to find a real alarm company. I hate the day that I ever let these people into my home. THEY ARE THE REAL THIEVES.

    Wife received a call from this security co the day after her car was broken into. Interesting, you think?? Poor customer service. Each time you have contact it will be someone in an entirely different area of the country. Did not receive doorbell initially, and still haven’t received the remote light bulbs. Camera motion recording, which is the reason we wanted something, is an absolute joke. About 5-10 second clips at 5 FPS. Black and white nighttime. And, great at recording rain, snow and fog. Hundreds of clips per night. But, does not record human or even vehicle activity, 15 feet away from the camera. Company remotely made changes to the settings, still the same problem. Doorbell video recording turned off because the flags blowing in the wind set it off. If someone were to break into the car again, this $55/month system will be absolutely USELESS. What is the point?? We decided we made a mistake, and wanted to give back the equipment and cancel. After only 2 weeks, “too bad”. You signed a 3 year contract. They are right. So we are stuck with a useless monthly bill. Pathetic, shady business practice. STAY FAR AWAY.

    Maybe through the alarm panel alone service may be good, but as for outdoor cameras , absolutely garbage, dont work when it snows or rains day or night, reset several times for picking up.objects but dont matter, just cheap quality but e pensive to buy cameras, what is the sense of having them shut off most of the time cause they misread.????

    Very disappointed. Many false alarms. Knox Security and Alanm.com blame on equipment and software. Failed camera and motion sensor at first. After false police reports, they were changed. Have had temperature alarms for extreme temperatures for 3 weeks. They can’t seem to stop this. Now they are saying communications from Alarm.com is blocked to system. This is new. Daily issues with system. My winter house has Eccbee thermostats and Blink cameras. Works 100% better at 10% of the price. Very disappointed.

    This is the best technology on the market, hands down. I think that a lot of the complaints I’m reading in the other reviews have a lot more to do with the dealers that the customers are using. I love my system, am constantly impressed by how current they are with new product integrations, and feel that my own experiences with their support are top notch. A lot of that comes from my dealer, though, as I know that when I submit a support ticket, that ticket gets passed down to my dealer for them to either address or escalate.

    The WORST SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM!!! i have ever signed up for. At first they will sale talk their products(latest gadgets, additional upgrades…) then you sign the contract, my biggest mistake. I had a month or two left on my previous alarm system, alarm.com tech said we’ll take care all the paper works to release you from your current alarm system come to find out it was never done i ended up doing it myself and paying 2 alarm system. I had other gadgets/upgrade that is part of contract that was NEVER INSTALLED which i am paying for. Now one my sensor is down, its been brought up to their attention but still no return calls/follow up. DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT UNTILL ALL WHAT THEY PROMISED ARE INSTALLED, that goes with all other alarm system companies. I cant wait to finish my contract. Do your research, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER!!!!!!

    I have an Alarm.com system provided by Protection 1. Overall I am happy with the system and it does have better features than the one that was replaced.

    BUT, some of the advertised features do not work reliably and I have not been able to get any attention to the matter from their support staff. The problems are with the Notification system and the Alarm.com app. (The phones I am using are Android, can’t comment on iOS phones.)

    There is a feature that allows you to create a “geo-fence” and be notified if you leave (enter) the fence with the alarm system disarmed. This would be a really useful feature if it worked. However it is flawed almost to the point of being useless.

    First, we have two phones with the Alarm.com app. I have configured both phones, and to the best of my knowledge they are configured identically. However one of the phones keeps getting a notification that it has not checked in with the Alarm.com server within the last 24 hours. This even when both phones were on identical paths during our vacation for a week. One phone communicated just fine, one did not. No one at Alarm.com seems to care, though. They respond to my trouble tickets by simply closing them with no commentary.

    Second, often the system is confused about either the time or the location of phones. I have got multiple sequences of alarming notification, disarming notification, followed by a notification that I have left the geo-fence without arming the system. (The actual “time” on the failed to alarm notification is smack in between the arming and the disarming times, so clearly the system was armed when the Alarm.com software thought it had checked.

    I’ve been a customer for about 3 weeks and I can’t get tech support to give me a call. I have an IRIS garage door opener that can be operated by my GE z-wave controller. The installer did a great job of updating my software on the GE controller, but I can’t get tech support to add the modual to the web interface. I did get a call asking if anyone had contacted me and said the would by the end of the day. That was 4 days ago and still no call.

    We purchased their system for our vacation home in Florida. The system has difficulty reading its own components often giving battery failures for items with no batteries. Smoke detectors can’t be recognized by system after new batteries installed leading to replacement and greater cost. Thermostat inaccurate on temperature. Front door lock couldn’t be read after new batteries installed and was told it would have to be replaced as well. All in all a waste of money and expensive to have to keep replacing components because the system doesn’t recognize any of the components. We have called the tech who installed it repeatedly for issues and he just wants to charge us when it’s the system that does not read its own components. His attitude is in line with what I have read in here with alarm.com phone service. I am not under any contract but I would never use this system again. Failures started within 14 months of installation. Every time there is a sound in the house the system says “glass break—-room” whereevwr the sound is. The sounds are nothing that should set off glass break alarms. Totally useless.

    I have had Alarm.com for 2 years now. I have a contract for 3 years. Thank God I only have one year left. I have not informed myself on how cancellation works but reading all their policies and reviews it seems like it is not going to be easy. So my problem is; my lock pad got wet from the rain, so in no time it stopped working, it got rusted, and I honestly hate calling to complain or say anything because they always take forever to answer, or just give you useless information, their customer services stinks big time. So after a long time I called them to tell them my lock pad is not working and one of the girls told me to clean it with alcohol, so I did. Then it did start working again but with some issues, so I called again and the guy very rudely and not helpful told me that alarm.com does not cover that, that it would be under my expense to replace it. So I got so mad and asked to talk to their manager but I guess I felt it would have been useless if they allow their customer representatives to talk to their customers like that, so I knew he was going to tell his manager all this lies and I just hung up and saved myself the time I would have lost. On Monday I will call for sure to see what is the catch to cancel their service.
    Worst security company ever! I will never get them again nor recommend them to anyone.
    It does not make any sense to be paying close to 80$ a month for something they will not want to fix to make the customer happy.
