I was told that I was on a month to month and that if I paid for a 12 month extension that they would cover the installation at my new home. I just called to cancel and was told that my contract was extended to 2021. Sneaky cheats!!! Do not use this company!!

I am a alarm technician for the last 4 years. This product line has some nice features and initial installs go fairly well. The problems come during upgrades of there equipment. Very time consuming . There tech support is typically very difficult to get thru and requires a minimum of 1 hour wait . You then get to be pasted around there tech support personnel . There seams to be a big turn over in there tech support so chances of getting someone with experience to resolve your problem is hit or miss. I have been servicing this subpar equipment and could not refer anyone to purchase any of there products outside the basic cell communicator.

Purchased a video camera through one of their third party installers. I have had the video/motion cameras for 2 months. The camera doesn't reliably detect motion and when it does, the camera does not reliably record. I have had 2 tech visits to my home and problem was not reliably resolved. I am now told alarm.com doesn't warrant the camera when installed through a 3rd. Party.

I'm a gadget freak and if this title fits you, then Alarm.com is what you want. Their stuff is top-notch. My local alarm company installed the base security/fire detection system, but I've installed all of the smart home stuff myself. 17 Light switches, two door locks, two garage door controllers, seven cameras (including door bell cam), six blinds, two Thermostats, six flood sensors with main water shut off and a sprinkler controller. They all work brilliantly and the best part is that they all work with one app and not the four or five apps that I see my friends using for their smart homes. The Echo integration is really good, but I do wish I could see my doorbell cam on my Echo Show like my neighbor can see his Nest doorbell cam on his Google Home. If your not tech savvy or don't have a reliable local alarm company that is affiliated with Alarm.com, then this isn't for you. But if you are, you'll be very very happy with it.

I had four security cameras installed as they were the subcontractor for Eastlink. From the first day the cameras were installed they did not work. There phone app is the worst ever. Video clips would disappear and they would have no answer as to why. Installation looked terrible and when the installer pit in an svr he forgot to log out when leaving causing the system not to work Terrible experience

I just want to say that the worst idea ive ever had was purchasing an alarm through alarm.com. the doorbell has **** quality. Always says having trouble connecting even though the router is less than 5 foot from the doorbell. The notifications for someone leaving fence 1 or entering fence 1 work when they want to. I am a pretty smart guy with technology so i have deleted the doorbell and redone my notifications however still nothing i will be glad to get out of this contract i have with you and brinks and tell you how worthless your equipment is

MOST IMPORTANTLY, This REVIEW is inaccurate and misleading; as ALARM.COM is NOT related in any way to the sales/service/support of the equipment they offers to the company which installed it. ALARM.COM is 100% THE BEST at that it does, and what it does is develop HIGH END, INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT hardware and back end cloud services for the companies who wish to make use of it. If you are experiencing an issue, it is with YOUR ALARM COMPANY, not alarm.com ALARM.COM spends TONS of money on product development and created services for home automation and security notification which can be complicated for some end users, and as such they have chosen a business model which relies on qualified installers to ensure the end user is having a positive experience; that being said.. if your alarm company is crap - you will probably be displeased - and if you try to take it up with ALARM.COM, you will be disjointed because they aren't going to help you.

I am reading all the reviews on Alarm.com about their service and how equipment doesn't work. First of all , I am a customer of Alarm.com, but foremost I am customer of the alarm company who installed it. Alarm.com takes pride in their products and they DO WORK. If anyone on here is having difficulty with their system , call the guy who installed because he/she is the dealer of Alarm.com who programmed it, which they probably did not know what they were doing. Alarm.com does not have contracts for 5 years to alarm company provider does. They don't have their own installers, the alarm company does. So any issue you have with your system call the guy who you pay the bill to, stop bashing Alarm.com, because it is very obvious you have no idea who or what you got yourself into.

Alarm.com wants to charge me $1,200 to come out of my 5 year contract. I cant believe we signed a 5 year contract with a buyout. Not like us at all. alarm.com is the worst. i originally started out with Rock Solid securith and he merge with alarm.com so i figured i would get the same service i had .. that was a big NO!. We have been with alarm.com for a little over a year now. first the doorbell chime was never hooked up(wired never connected) and would not of course ring inside the house. the tech came out fumble around with the doorbell and now the camera does not work will not connect ot my wifi therefore it want hook up to mobile app. custosmer service wants us to know foremost that it will cost $90 for the tech to come out just to check it out. what a rotten company to have when they know that the crap they are promoting is worthless. and the only compatable equipment is ther stuff. a rating of "0" is so the rating for this company.

I have used alarm.com for over a year now monitoring my security cameras. People can pull in my driveway and it never notifies me. However, I can have 15 recorded clips of the sun going behind a cloud because the lighting changes. JUNK!

Took 3 months to get doorbell camera and then they said we had to install when our contract said they would install at a later date. We installed and camera never worked so we upgraded our wifi system. Still didn’t work and kept loosing connection. After hours on the phone with the company and their techs and managers, we were told the doorbell was defective and they’d mail a new one. That was months ago and still nothing. We’ve spent hours of our time trying to resolve. We finally spent over $300 out of our pocket to by a nest. Wish we had not signed a contract. Worst service.

We recently had a break in. Multiple emails were sent informing us of a pending alarm. Who reads emails at 6:15 in the morning. Calls were not made to people on the call list until 45 minutes later. I’ve worked with alarm monitoring companies in the past and people lost jobs for this type of mistake and full reimbursement of products lost were paid by the company

I use 4 alarm.com dome cameras for my home and a Skybell door camera. The alarm.com dome cameras are very unreliable. In the past 10 months that I have had them, I had to call my security alarm company out to service the cameras numerous times to troubleshoot various problems which range from no video, cameras just stopping, night vision capability diminishing to the point of almost non-existence. On the plus side, my security company is good and has just exchanged cameras for me each time thus far. Despite having Verizon FiOS highest bandwidth, two of my cameras had to be hard -wired to the controller and SVR because the cameras would not "learn in" via WiFi. Finally, when I compare Ring footage and NEST camera footage I think Alarm.com cameras are less useful as a security device. Ring and Nest capture more details and the NEST can actually move to track an individual. At some point I may likely switch from Alarm.com cameras to NEST cams. I just hate to lose the money I have put into them.

i usually don’t write reviews. This company is horrible. We got this alarm system for our newly built home in November 2017. The first few months the alarm system worked great so we thought. We started to have problems with our doorbell camera. It wasn’t working on our app on our phones. Called the monitoring company and had to keep resetting the camera.. For the last 5 months kept having the same problem. My husband called the company and found out the main panel had went out. The company sent out a new panel when it arrived via U.P.S. It was the wrong panel. Company sent out circuit boards this time not the panel. My husband had to replace the circuit boards himself. Come to find out Alarm .com do not have any technicians in the field to fix the alarm system if it goes out. He had to call the technical support number and they will walk you through how to fix the problem. After spending 3 hours on the phone via video chat with them , he finally got the system working. I found the whole ordeal frustrating and on top of that our home wasn’t being monitored for all those months that the panel was down. So we were paying for months of monitoring that wasn’t working. The monitoring company refuse to refund or credit our account for those months.

Alarm.com is the worst company I ever dealt with. When they sale the system to you they don't tell you everything. Example: The door bell camera only lets you get 1000 clips a month and it stops recording and you have to pay for more clips. But when I first got it I got unlimited clips. Their camera is no good some times it would not have no sound or picture and they tried to blame it on my internet but my internet connection was fine. My system just goes off by itself and you keep calling for service and no one comes to fix it. They tell you a tech is coming and they never show up. But they want your money but don't give you no service.

I've had alarm.com for about three years now. It's junk. My system frequently encounters issues where the alarm.com web site and mobile app simply stop responding to commands. For example, sending the command to turn on and off lights, unlock or lock doors simply fails today. On their web site and mobile app, they show the command being received. Unfortuantely, that doesn't tell you whether or not the command succeeded as I found out the hard way (the commands are silently failing). The interface definitely has significant room for improvement and debugging and fixing the system should not require the service provider to come out. Remeber, this is an automated solution! Reliability is a huge disappointment as these issues occur REPEATEDLY every 4 to 6 months. I'm ditching this piece of junk for a better alternative that is reliable.

Our family is currently protected by Alarm.com it's been over a year; however, whenever you need technical support if something happens to your system is a very Big Hassle! Our problem has not been solved. We were told a tech can come May 13th and we would have to pay the tech $50 an hour. The saddest part about this is our problem is simple. We changed our Wi-fi password. So our equipment only needs to be updated to the new password. We're called numerous of times. After holding 25-30 mins a friendIy tech answers ask for all your info, ask you the problem, place you on hold, and the call is dropped. We've never missed a payment or ever been late. I came on here not to recommend this company but they don't have this option. I'm sure it's many other people who will not recommend this company and stuck in their contract like us. (JGilmore)

They tell you what you want to hear but after it’s installled and they have your payment you are stuck with a horable system. It can’t pick up a 250lb man walking in your house but it picks up and sends you 215 messages during the night because the wind is blowing a tree branch. Do not do business with this company! They contract their work out and seem to not care how their contractors handle business. Twice I’ve had connection problems and could not receive a call back for two months, so now I have a new router and have done what the app ask to do to connect new router no luck and again their contractor has left me hanging going on 3 months, do not do business with Total Connect in Modesto CA., and I get no help from Alarm.com they listen to my complaint then nicely say they have nothing they can do it’s the contract company that I cannot get in contact with that I need to talk with.

This has to be the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. From customer service to the actual installation. Every time I call, they reroute me to another department and it wasn't until this last time I called when I had the initial person who answers stay on the phone with me until they "resolved the issue," which in the end never was resolved anyhow even now 30 days after the call. It has been an ongoing issue for almost a year. They claim that they only have one expert on the West Coast to help with installation. They also have sent the expert who doesn't complete the work and lies about the work that has been completed in his work orders. I am so fed up and I actively shopping for another company so when my contract ends in April I will lose them. I am fed up with them and their customer service and overall product.

Have outdoor cameras that record periodically. It will record a snowflake but it wont record a human walking in the yard. I've had 5 different tech support agents and one tech on site and they still cant figure out the problem. They said I can pay another $85 to bring another tech out and $60 for each additional hour. Camera are under warranty by the manufacturer but that cant give me new cameras unless another tech says they are malfunctioning. The other solution I got was that they can send me new different brands of cameras but they will have to extend my contract by 19 months. If I want to cancel then I would have to pay thousands to get out of the contract. Whatt a crock of you know what. This is the worst company ever. Better off going with another company. 100% dissatisfied!!!!!

Terrible customer service, the salesman came to my house and told me I am not signing any sort of contract and if after 6 months I want to cancel my service then I am allowed to, do after about a year of service I decided to get rid of the security system and come to find out I signed a 5 year contract and under any circumstances I am not allowed to cancel my contract

I ordered a video doorbell through my alarm company, Brinks. The installation was through a contractor working with Brinks. However, he contacted ALarm.com for service. Before installation I contacted the contractor with some questions one of them was if the doorbell was 720 or 1080. I was told 1080. Great. After installation and checking the box I find it’s an obsolete 720. I’ve had the doorbell one week and no one will cancel this out of date doorbell. I am very upset. I have been with Moni/Brinks for years. I will be looking for a new company.

Alarm.com controller functionality is very slow for automation, very limited in feature flexibility, planning on buying a new Z-Wave controller to handle the automation features for everything except alarm. Sad but true. Example, have a scene created to turn off all indoor lights... it take close to 30 seconds and more to turn off the lights after button pushed. I want a trigger for locking the door based upon exiting the geofence... not even possible. Vera Lite is much more flexible and actually responsive to feature requests... Alarm.com is completely non-responsive. For the cost I'm paying... it could be considered theft.

I have had alarm.com equipment for a few weeks now and overall enjoy but haven’t had to utilize it much on the security cameras front, however, I will say that the fact that you can’t clear up space on false movements that count towards your 1000 recordings a month is a terrible feature. My system was installed by 5pm one day, by 5am the next day I was told my 1000 clip limit was up for the month? Now I don’t get notifications if something is actually going on for the rest of the month. Haven’t had to use the storage recorder yet to know how easy or difficult it is to use.

I have an outdoor camera. A spider got on the camera and it recorded all night long. I got an e-mail that all of my recording time was used this month, even though I went to the website and deleted all the video recordings. I was advised the camera will start recording next month or I can pay more money and purchase more recording time this month. Seems pretty pathetic to me. I would not recommend an outdoor camera from alarm.com to anyone...run the other way.
