Alarm.com is more than a home security company. They sell almost any smart home technology a tech-lover could want. With intelligent learning, Alarm.com’s equipment learns the patterns of day-to-day life, and are able to recognize inconsistencies in the home. Products they offer include:

  • Interactive Home Security System. Their home security system is professionally monitored 24/7. It’s also crash-proof, gives extreme weather alerts, and has a two-way voice system. The system uses a cellular connection.
  • Property Access. Customers can use an app to open and shut their garage door and lock the doors to their home.
  • Video Monitoring. Alarm.com has indoor and outdoor cameras, doorbell cameras, and video analytics. Owners can stream or playback recorded video within their app.
  • Wellness. Both seniors and families can benefit from the company’s wellness plan (similar to a medical alert device).
  • Energy Management. Control smart thermostats and lights to help save energy.

    Activating over cellar services most of the time never works I have to try numerous times to try and activate my system. It’s a good thing I don’t live in a high crime area.

    But because I pay an expensive price I’d expect it to work.

    My system relies on Alarm.com for the phone app to communicate with the base station. Though I live in an urban area, the Alarm.com app is unreliable to the point of being useless. Having had techs out to the house twice in the last week, I am in the market for a system that doesn’t use this company’s technology.

    The cost per month is high for just basic camera compared to other companies. For installation I paid a lot too. I wanted to get the video instead of the camera that just takes pictures but was told that is $250 and $5 MORE per month. Ridiculous. I do have a good contact guy that answers when I call and we needed some sensors replaced they came out and did that. Nice guy that installs.

    You are forever on hold for hours, cameras consistently break down within first year. Battery on cellular device only last 20 min during power failure meaning alarm useless. If someone disconnects camera or power failure your not notified at all or covered. If tech comes out after warranty which they will they charge 75-100$ hour. Poor customer service. They should have life time warranty on their products while you are hooked up with them no more than 3 minute holds and immediate service for techs to come out and repair. I also asked to speak to the top person and was told they are not available and customer service was as high as I could voice my complaint.

    I own a business and having a security system is an absolute must. I used VIVINT before and never had any problems. With Alarm.com My system stops working every other month. When I Call tech support, they tell me they have to send a tech out and it cost $75 an hour plus $25 for service call. When something is broken or not working they replace it and charge me a lot of money. I had 2 cameras installed and a recorder(SVR) and it cost over $1,000. I will cancel my contract as soon as I can, but they have absolutely no early out option. I tried to pay extra to cancel my contract and they will not allow anything other than finishing contract.

    Every year I call to cancel they keep adding more years to my contract first it’s two years than they said it’s three years and now they said it’s five years. I said I would never sign a five year . So they said if I don’t pay it I will be sent to collections and hung up on me. Worst customer service me worst company ever.

    They offer the same billing options as ADT in auto pay. They delivered on time as expected and installed in just a couple hours. They can use existing equipment and when it failed on us they caan right out and replaced it at no charge. Their customer service though leaves a lot to be desired. Call in and wait to get answers and then you are hooked up with regional whom doesn’t always answer the questions.
